Hi, and welcome to the ECF. :)

That would be a working e-cig, with the addition of some e-liquid. You'd have to drip directly into the atomizer after every few drags to vape on that. You don't need cartridges, but they would be better than dripping if you want to vape while driving or other such situations where it would be difficult/dangerous to drip. Atomizers often come with a cartridge without filler, which can be used instead of a drip tip, but it has to be pulled out to drip in, then replaced.

In my opinion, it would be a problematic setup for the average person, though. 510 batteries don't hold a charge for long, and you'd have to charge it on a USB port, unless you included an ac-dc wall outlet adapter with the charger. Atomizers need to be cleaned to get them to last very long. It's advisable to have at least two batteries and atomizers, which is why most starter kits include that.

Generally, starter kits will be less expensive than the sum of the prices of the individual parts, so if you can afford it, they are a better deal most places.

So, what are you looking to get out of your purchase? Are you just looking for something to try, or are you just looking for a setup for light use at home?

Yes it will work. All you have to do is drip. Don't forget to clean your brand new atomizer (from now on it's called atty) by blowing it from the connector side (the one with the threads) to a paper towel. Drip some ejuice on the atty (3-5 drops on the bridgelike metal inside the atty). Put on your driptip. Put your atty on your fully charged battery, and vape on. You'll need to practice with it. The more simple way is get some cartomizer (carto).

By the time you bought all that you'd have paid for a KGO starter kit from DarkCityVapor and be robbing yourself of valuable and necessary backup equipment. If you don't do this right the first time there is a good chance you will relapse. Don't be that person. Be prepared and shop smart. You don't want atomizers and cartridges those are the old way. Vapers who know use Cartomizers and the DCV kit comes with 10 of them instead of cartridges. The KGO outperforms the original EGO and all of the other clones. I wrote a blog on it here: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...-quit-smoking-start-vaping-my-quit-diary.html

You can also read about my quitting experience there and the benefits of my doing so in a short period of time. Take the months of research I did and benefit from them in a short little read of my blog. I also collaborated with this post here which I also inspired apparently and it's a solid starter guide a friend of mine put together and I added some good info to:
http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/blogs/envithyx/2547-quick-starter-guide-i-put-together-friends.html This will help provide you with the necessary evidence to solidify your choice in the KGO, what I believe to be the most effective, satisfying, and best value in an e-cig for beginners.

It's going to cost you around 70 bucks to get started and that's only going to hold you for 2 weeks tops, probably less. Just enough time to get the Do-It-Yourself chemicals and flavors in the mail. I spent 120 (total - including the 70 for the KGO, 30ml of juice, a 306 atomizer with drip tip, and 5 more cartos) and got a DIY juice setup (60ml of 100mg nicotine juice, 120ml of PG, and 177ml of VG from Walmart, plus 10 flavors) and I make my own juice now. I can go for 3-6 months with my $120 investment if everything goes according to plan. Save up, and save your life. You're worth it. This will pay for itself over time :2c:. As you can see from my signature (which is on day 12. $43.29 saved at the time I wrote this) in a month's time I will be saving money for 2-4 more months. That will easily pay for my vaping and a lot of hot dates on the town. If you simply live day to day and can't afford this investment then beg or borrow. You'll be good for the loan soon. Believe me when I tell you that if you do what I did you will get the best value for your money. I am super frugal and I prefer to vape well on a budget.

PM me for questions/details. I'll do my best to help.
