Is there any talk out there about the industry moving away from the 510 connector and going to something like the new ProVari "P3" connection. The 510 has been a real disaster as I have stripped the threads out of just about everything I've ever owned. The cartos are cheap to replace, but not my $60 Vulcan.

Believe me, the industry is suffering bad because of this - I know it has to be happening every day to users and must feel the same way I do.

Consumers like me in mid 50s that believe in paying big bucks for a tool that will last 10 to 30 or more years.

I would buy a quiver full of expensive mods and RDAs if it weren't for the fact that no matter what price you pay, they may only last an hour or a week until they roll off a table and strip the threads off.

No more $220 mods and $60 RDAs for me...until the 510 connection goes by the wayside.

I don't think we need to worry about "Calls To Action - Defend Your Rights" the vaping industry is going to kill itself.

Just my 2-cents worth :>)

I'm not really sure what you're talking about. The only time that you would have any issues with the 510 were because of one of two reasons:

A: Cheap chinese threading on either the device or the atty.

B: You don't understand the term 'snug'.

I've never had an issue with either of my ProVari's or my Silver Bullet. I did put an adapter on my iStick because the cheap chinese threads felt very soft and I didn't want to ruin them. In fact I've dropped my ProVari 2.5 several times with my (Authentic) Kayfun atop it. The worst that's happened is that the plastic tank section on the Kayfun jumped a thread.

They're not really designed to be cranked down until they're tight. I see lots of people doing this, and it sure is a good way to strip your threads. The center post on the mod and the atty need to make contact. That's all. It doesn't need to be torqued in, just snug. Snug enough that it's not going to wobble off in your pocket, but not so snug that you need to exert any effort to remove it.

Go buy a quiver full of expensive mods. Buy ones with a reputation for being solid mods. Get one with a machined 510 instead of a glued in one...then come on back and tell us how bad they are. And please don't put a cartomizer on top of it and complain that the mod is bad, or the connection is horrid.

I'm a mid-50s consumer with a ProVari v2. that's close to 2.5 years old that doesn't even feel broken in. It was my first and I have since bought others (v2.5s & a P3). I love them and haven't had an issue with a single one. I also have Reos, another device with an excellent performance history. I haven't had a problem with the 510 connection of any of my devices from Joyetech eGos on up, but I am very picky about gear. I buy authentic battery devices and I do a lot of research beforehand. I want to spend my money on products with a track record.

The vaping industry is going to kill itself? Because of the 510 connection? :)

I don't think so. I've been using the 510 threaded mods exclusively for 4 years and I have never ever stripped any threads bare, but I know that it can happen. As the posters above noted, some inexpensive Chinese mods come equipped with poorly made soft 510 connections, but not all of them; those that do usually release a version 2 with reinforced 510 threads because vapers complain loudly and bitterly. My Sigelei mini, MVPs, and various eGos never had this problem. Neither did my ProVari. And all the higher end Chinese mods sport solid stainless steel 510 connections (often with floating center pin).

Now to answer your question: NO. The 510 is the most popular connection in the vaping world. The ProVari 3 has a 510 connection also. It's not going anywhere--but it's definitely being improved to be more sturdy and to accommodate many atomizers currently on the market.

Sorry - no.

For whatever reason Provari felt a "need" to create a non standard connector on the P3. And every other time we see this happen the only thing that follows - is an adapter to convert the non standard threading to 510. If the market was "dying" for this it would be introduced and catch on like wild fire - but to date it never does and the non standard threaded devices disappear from the market pronto. Not saying that will happen to the P3 due to it's special circumstances (and the adapter), but for every other device tried with "heavy duty" non standard threading they all went poof! and didn't make it.
