510 to 808/901 adapter

I have 2 of these. One of them has a nice easy draw and the other is REALLY hard to draw on. I was not aware of this at first because I gave one to dh when I set up his kit, and he didn't realize it wasn't supposed to be that way until he tried mine. It seems that the threads on mine don't allow the carto to screw on all the way thus making mor space for airflow. The other one allows the carto to screw on all the way, but the air holes are both on one side which makes it hard to line up the airholes without leaving the carto really loose on the adapter. I am wondering if there is a fix for this. My initial idea is that if I drill a hole through both sides of the battery side I could take advantage of the 510 battery's notches that I can only assume are for airflow. I just need to know if this would work or not, before I start drilling holes. TIA

The 808/901 side is adjustable. Just use a small screwdriver and you can move the center up and down as needed..
