are all 510 USB pass through 5V or does it have to say its a 5V. Because here in wonderful SA you cant get 5V anything, and the best place to buy hardware from here has the Ego PT now i know that thats not a 5V PT because its accualy not a true PT rather a battery you can use while you charge it,but now the 510 PT is a ture USB PT so is it 5V

Hi morgan69.

OK. There are two types of PTs.
1) 3.x volts with an inline battery - they trickle charge from the USB port. Not a "pass-thru" in the true sense of the term, that that's what they call them. Basically you vape off the battery, charge between vapes. Low amp draw from the port since it's just a trickle charge.
2) 5 volt "direct" PT. No battery. They pull power directly from the USB connection. Needs amps. Use a separate AC/USB adapter having at least 2 amps output. Don't use your computer... too many amps.

I recommend using the AC/USB adapter (A wall wart) for both situations... no reason to risk messing up a computer USB and no reason to tie up a port.

As for being in SA... IDK.... but the type 2 ones are easy to build if you don't mind soldering a few connections. It's basically an old (thick) USB cord and button with an atty connector. 5 volts is a USB standard and comes from the wall wart. See the modder's section for more info.

Wall warts (A/C to USB adapters) are available for all sorts of things. Some use charging hubs, etc. Just make sure it outputs at least 2.0 amps (2000 mA) or more. More if you want Dual Cartos at 5 volts.

Nope, that is still a 3.7v bat. A true PT has no battery at all.
