510 vs. 901: Just what IS the difference?!

I'm currently a Joye 510 user. Looking at the Riva now, whose battery life is appealing... I'm tired of switching batteries every hour! I remember reading somewhere that problems with a leaky 510 cartridge can often be rectified by using a 901 cartridge (makes for a slightly tighter fit), so that would indicate to me that 510 & 901 must be fairly close in design. (?)

What is the difference between 510 & 901 PVs? I know this info has got to be around here somewhere, but I searched half the morning away, and haven't found comparison posts/threads.

I'm under the impression that 901 atomizers don't get as hot as the 510s do... not sure if that is correct though. All I know is that for $30, it's well worth it for me to try one of these Riva kits... but I'm completely undecided as to which I should get.

So today's question is... stick with 510s or switch to 901s? Can I get some pros/cons for these, to help me figure out which would be a better choice for me?

Thanks in advance. :)

(These are the URLs for the Riva starter kits @ $30: 510 901. If price is not set to $29.99, use discount code "august20" which is good through October.)

901's do seem to run a little cooler. I personally like them. I started out with the 510. I still use 510 attys, lr 510 attys. But I now also use 901 and lr 901. The lr 901 is my fav. I would suggest to you to get an adapter and try out a 901. For the riva i would suggest the long adapter, not the short SS (stainless steel) one. I found the 901 performs better without the cone. So if you like the cone get the long adapter (coupler).

Nice prices on attys here

Thank you, Bert. :) Not bad prices at all.

I have no idea what the cones are for, only that everyone says they are optional. What interested me about the Riva PVs was the longer battery life. So I figured if I'm going to get a whole new starter kit, perhaps first I should find out what the 901s are. Plus, a couple hours ago, I saw that their 510s are sold out ATM, whereas they still have 3 of the 4 901s (i.e., color choices) offered. I'm not surprised they've sold so much at this price; I just don't know when they'll be restocking.

A cooler atty means less harsh, correct?

Also, what do LR attys accomplish?
