It's not that the flavor changes, you just get more flavor in some vaporizers than others. I think the hotter burning ones make the vapor "thinner" where the "denser" vapor carries more taste.

Some flavors you can't really notice it with but others you can. For example, Peach tastes about the same in all three that I have (801, 901, 510) - but you can taste a big difference in subtle flavors like cheesecake and banana.

In my opinion on a scale of 1-10:

901: Flavor 10, Throat Hit 6, Vapor Production 7
510: Flavor 6, Throat Hit 9, Vapor Production 8
801: Flavor 8, Throat Hit 8, Vapor Production 10

Oh, and if you are on a budget - the 510 and 801 go through liquid at about twice rate of the 901. My favorite overall is the 801 but it's kinda big.

Get them both if you can afford them at Heaven-Gifts.com (Ruyan Direct) for about $110US shipped with a couple of extra 901 manual batteries to boot.

Rotate usage and they last much longer :D

I have to agree, it's nice to have both. I like the 901 for everyday vaping, and the 510 is great when I'm craving an analog. I have a 901 manual passthough, and it's hard to beat that set up, IMHO.

This is one of the few threads where I have actually seen some good discussion/comparisons of the 510 vs 901. Instead of responding to several different posters....I just thought I'd post a general one, myself.

I too find that both models have their pros and cons and when we are suggesting any model to anyone, it is important to find out what they are looking for before we suggest the wrong model for their needs. Since amplexor sounds like he wants vapor and throat hit, I would probably steer him towards the 510.

Me personally, I find the the 510 far too harsh on my throat, not very impressive for flavor, doesn't not produce any more vapor than a 901, very short battery life and a bit noisy with the crackling and popping in the atomizer. But if someone wants throat hit, they'll certainly get more than enough out of it!

With the recent acquisition of the manual 901 batteries, I find that the 901 retains all of its great features w/ the added benefit of a consistent hit like the 510 (which was sometimes difficult to get w/ the automatic battery) and a far easier draw (again because of the switch in the automatic battery). However, it still will not beat the 510 for throat hit and I do wish they would get rid of the 5 second cut-off on the manual battery.

Well said! I ordered my 510 (From Innovaper) and had some great conversations with a fella named Tony. He told me that the manual batts that come with my kit does NOT have a cutoff and told me a few stories of how a customer called them back and told them that he melted his atty... (was done delibrately to test the non-cuttoff feature). Unless I miss read what you were saying "However, it still will not beat the 510 for throat hit and I do wish they would get rid of the 5 second cut-off on the manual battery." Guess I wasnt sure if you meant the manual 901 or the manual 510.

Chief-A-Lot....I was referring the the manual 901. It works very well and I am very satisfied with it....beats having to suck hard on the automatic battery to insure the switch activates, but I do not like the 5 second cut-off that is programmed into it. I have seen a few posts about 510 carts melting....but I would think that was caused by some rather extreme activation of the 510 atty and not what the average user would cause. Plus, the 510 atty runs hotter than the 901 atty, so I would venture that if both were activated for long periods of time, the 510 cartridge would feel the effects before the 901 cartridge would.

I have the 510 and a 901 on a screwdriver. The hit and vapor are about the same between them with the 901 having a little better flavor. The big difference seems to be that the atty's in the 510 get a lot hotter really quick producing a bitter taste when it's hot. The 901 seem to never get hot and always taste great. I don't know about the hit with a normal 901 but I really like their atty's.

haha cheers mate I know I have loads of toys :p I think I'm actually thinking about giving the 510 a chance, might do a review on the 901 and the 510 and a review comparing them both, but think i wana get a manual 901 battery first to make it fair. If I had the choice between the 510 and an analog I'd pick the 510 so I can't hate it that much :p

Go with the 510. Much better vapor production than a 901.

This would be an example of what I was referring to in my first post in this thread.

I, for one, disagree about the "much better vapor production" statement. While the 510 does a very good job of producing vapor, I have not found it to provide a noticeably larger amount of vapor than a 901 atty connected to a manual 901 battery.

Also, who are you making this suggestion to? Your simplistic statement is not enough of a reason to suggest a 510 over any other model.

Again, all models have their pros and cons. Try to suggest a model based off of the person's individual wants/needs.....don't just suggest a single model because it is what you know or what you like.

(stepping back off the soap box, now) :D

I have both and use both daily. Battery life on the 901 and the more subtleness* of it appeals to me for when I'm perma-vaping about the house. For a stress-vape, I hit the 510 for a quick fix :)

This is manual 510 vs auto 901.

*when I say the vapour is more subtle, it is so much better than the others I've tried. But isn't the clouds I enjoy from the 510.

I use the 901, 510 and 801 with a Screwdriver - I reviewed the three here:

Just got my 510 PCC yesterday, so today was my first full day with my 510.

I also switched the cart tip to a 901 style whistle tip...I'm liking it...alot.

ALSO, I tweesed out the hair from under the atty bridge (Must be Troll Hair).

I don't know if it was the PCC, the troll hair, or the whistle tip, but I did not miss my 901 today at all. :D
