Hey Experts,

OK, heres the thing. I am sick of dumping money into ecigs and getting lack luster results. I own 2 now, a Joye 510 with PCC et al and a "White Cloud" which I got at the mall and paid a fortune for, which is basically the same as a Nebula/ Vapor King. I am out of supplies for both, but I am contemplating which is less of a hassle. The 510 after a month is OK, but so messy to deal with. I'm sick of constantly topping off my carts, then the carts get all fuzzy and I have to straw mod to get any liquid into it and carry a ziplock bag full of liquid and cartridges in my bag and BLAH BLAH BLAH! So much hassle! And, it still tastes plasticy to me even after I've dripped and used the attys forever. Yes, it's wet. Yes, I've cleaned the darn thing. 6 drags in and I taste warm platic every time. Yuk.

The "White Cloud" lasts all day long, but then the cartomizer gets that horrible burnt taste when it gets dry, so I pulled one apart and found that its actually burning the cottony cloth inside, so I'm inhaling burnt filler. AAAAHHH! I'm so frustrated. I like the cartomizer idea, but I don't know if the VK and Nebula are going to have the same problem. We are trying to quit using ecigs. I've spent hours reading on this forum. I'm so frustrated, I'm going to go have an analog to get through the headache! Your comments are appreciated.

Master your cart building skills and then post back. If you are getting a weird taste, you're not doing it right.

This is just my opinion on your 510 troubles:

You've burnt the fiberglass-type stranded wick thingy (absolutely the weak link in an othewise solid design). That's the plasticky taste and why it doesn't wick well.

You can either toss it and try again or attempt to clean it. If you clean it there are many threads about soaking or boiling and other such stuff. What I found works for me is:

Get a fresh dry cart with new (or clean) filling.
Put a 3-5 drops of your clearest juice on top. (enough to moisten the filler)
Put cart on and take 10 or so pulls.
Pull out cart, look at the nasty brown stuff.
Wash the filler and dry thoroughly.
Repeat until clean.

I usually use a few more drops and vape until dry, but the above works also.

The positive side of this is that you now know that plasticky taste, and you'll stop at the first sign of it in the future. It's a much worse taste than dry filler/dry atty.

Also, when refilling/restuffing carts, I only fill from the top for 510 carts. It's pointless to use a syringe or put drops in the bottom and on top with the 510. I use polyfill batting folded in half. That leaves an airhole in the center. I like a lot of vapor so I'll put 2or3 drops of VG on first and let it soak down then my PG liquid 2or3 drops at a time. Again only what it'll take from the top, the idea being that it should find it's way out if it found it's way in. I never counted, but I'd say I get at least 50 huge hits this way - probably more.

Thanks for all the advice. I still can't figure out the difference in carts for the Vapor King/ Nebula/ Greencig/ and DPV9. They all look the same. I know the greencig has a different setup from watching Wegster's review, but VK and DPV( are unclear. I'm pretty sure the Nebula's carts burn like my current one.

I'm giving up on my 510. I'm not interested in all the maintenance, although I do appreciate the advice. I want to grab it and go, and not have to worry about the hassle. The 2-piece is more my style if I can find one that doesn't burn the filler.

I prefer my 510..the cartos dont seem to last long for me. A lot of juice watsted. I remove my wicks right out of the gate, and use blue fluval batting. It takes a day for the fluval to set in for some reason to flow consistant, but cut to the exact size of the square gives me a great flow, doesnt hold back much, and gets me about 5-10 cigs worth before topping off again. A 3 ml dropper bottle in pocket and im set. Im stuck on my 510 for the dense vapor..and with no wick, you never worry about burning it. I also have a 901, which works good for flavor. The cartos and supers just dont cut it for me.

Greencig doesn't burn. That is the big difference. You can vape it dry. Refilling is a bit of a trick, but can be done by syringe very easily. You can use your kr8 (vapor King) batteries, but you may need an adapter, OR you can drill a hole right into the G on the greencig cart and just screw on to your kr8 and you are good to go. That's what I did.

Well, with the vapor king, its important to refill your cartomizer before it runs dry.

My method is that after I burnt a couple, I just use one for half a day, switch to a different carto, and then refill both at the end of the day. One carto can last between 1-2 days with my level of use, however, I find it safer to just switch while I know its not getting burnt and refill/top off later.

I figure, I am going to be refilling them eventually anyways, so my process just ensures that I am not going to burn it. And refilling the cartos is pretty easy, I use the cart condom method most of the time, or a syringe if I already have the carto's pulled a part for cleaning.

But, with any model there is going to be a certain amount of hassle with refilling and such.
