Hello all,

I've been lurking for several weeks now and have been off cigarettes for 7 days. I quit the moment my 510 arrived. The taste took some getting used to but I can honestly say I'm liking the taste/sensation more than I liked how cigarrettes tasted and made me feel. I have been smoking for 14 years and for the last 5 of those I have been a 1 1/2 - 2 pack a day smoker. Needless to say I have not enjoyed smoking for quite some time. I was continually coughing nasties up, not sleeping well, waking up feeling tired and just really lazy and out of shape in general.

Once I decided to start vaping I tried to do as much research as I could and found this forum to be perfectly suited to my information gathering needs. I have gathered so much valuable information and received so much help here without ever even posting. A big thank you to all of you posting here... for your help, encouragement, and for sharing your tips/lessons learned along the way with those of us in need. You have made an incalcuable impact on my life for the better without ever even knowing I existed. Keep it up!

I settled on the 510 as my first PV. I had been buying cigarettes by the pack while awaiting it's arrival so I didn't end up with a bunch of cigarettes while I was transitioning to vaping. The day it arrived I had 3 cigarettes in the morning that I had to bum from my father who was visiting at the time. From my first vape on I knew I would never smoke again. I was ready to quit. My father was sceptical and several times that day asked if I needed a cigarette which I turned down.

I think I craved a cigarette 3 times that first day and I'm about 90% sure this was only due to the years of association my brain has made between analogs and nicotine. On the second day I was no longer craving cigarettes and instead craving my PV. I love the freedom it gives me to sit there for 20 minutes non-stop vaping or to just have a couple hits and not have to think about wastage/money etc.

Like I've read in other posts by people just starting out I went a little overboard on my vape intake at first which I honestly think helps a lot. After 3 days I was easily able to bring my intake down once my brain was focused on vaping and no longer craving analogs.

Yesterday was my seventh day vaping and I feel awesome. I was sleeping all through the night by my third day and that has continued to present. I don't even remember the last time I felt so good waking up while I was on analogs. I no longer get winded from walking around or going up stairs. I'm no longer coughing all day long and just feel better in general. I was really amazed at how fast I started to feel so much better. I decided to celebrate by ordering enough spare batts/attys/juice to last me a good while.

I started out with the intention of quitting but now that I feel so well I do believe I am going to enjoy this for some time first. I'm not saying that this isn't an awesome quitting tool but that It works so well that I have been enjoying my nicotine consumption for the first time in years. I'm not quite ready to give that up. It's like seeing an old friend for the first time in years. I was able to cut my vaping consumption by around 50% on my 4th day and it was surprisingly easy.

Thanks again to all of you posting here for providing me with all the info/encouragement I needed to make this transition to vaping. When and if I am ready to quit I believe vaping will prove to be an easier transition to a nicotine-free life than analogs ever could be but for now, I'm going to enjoy it.

I recognize both your:

1. Good Fortune! (Not everyone is comfortable with vaping, at least so quickly.)

2. Your Acomplishment! (Even more than your good planning and dedication, your ability to avoid being lured by mass-marketed inferior products that happen to look like an analog and to select one of the very good ones, and certainly the most popular currently here in ECF.)

Welcome to the wonderful world of vaping!

I just ordered my very first e-cigarette, and from all the info posted on this forum, I feel I've made an informed buying decision, as opposed to just grabbing the first one I saw. My Dragon M401 will be here Wednesday and I'm completely psyched! As far as I can see, there has been nothing but positive things said about using these things. Congratulations to you - try to get your Father to use these too!

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/members/osculum.htmlOsculum, congrats on the switch to e-cigs. They truly are amazing, aren't they? I think one of the best things, is that you can gradually lower the nic content of your juice, but still enjoy vaping because it is just soo good.

Just wanted to say that you are going to LOVE your Dragon. I also did a ton of research before I chose the dragon as my 1st PV about 10 days ago, and I have no regrets. The worst part was waiting for it to get here. GL and let us know how it goes.
