Mythbusters tested the AC v open windows fuel consumption thing. Can't remember the result though

I saw that one! - they only tested fuel mileage between driving with A/C versus driving with windows down - they didn't test driving with A/C on and windows down.... I believe Adam drove with windows down and got more miles from the tank than Jamie did with the A/C on........

you are adorable photo lol. vapor is just water vapor ya know? its thinner and cooler than smoke. it sinks instead of rises. it dissipates faster. Once you get used to it, it wont be a big deal. maaaaybe dont roll the windows down all the way? or just the back? lol capn crunch box...

oh and katz- make a pointy toungue in your mouth (center of the circle) and blow out the vapor in small birsts! smoke rings! my dead roommate taught me (with smoke but it works just as well with vaping) oh and another fun thing to do is blow bubbles with vapor! vape bubbles rock!

To sucessfully make good smoke/vapor rings, you don't want to blow out the smoke/vapor. You want to push it out. The easiest way is to fill up your mouth with vapor, make an O with your lips, put your tongue in the middle of the O, and tap your cheek with your finger. After getting good with that, start pushing the smoke/vapor out with moving your jaw slightly to decrease the available volume in your mouth, instead of tapping your cheek.

There's a couple reasons why a hit from a moving vehicle with the windows down might not give you as good a hit. One is just like everybody is saying, the visual aspect of having a big vapor cloud is very satisfying. The second reason could be air pressure. According to Bernoulli's principle, the pressure in a fluid decreases as the speed of the fluid increases. In a moving vehicle, we can substitute fluid for air, and come to realize that the air pressure inside the vehicle is higher than the air pressure outside the vehicle. This causes a "buffeting" effect on your lungs, which causes you not to be able to take as deep of a hit from your ecig as you normally would. You can test & multiply this effect by sticking your head out of your car window (preferably as somebody else is driving) and see how well you can breathe with 60mpg winds coming at your face.

Disclaimer: I will not be held responsible for any insects/birds/pedestrians that may wind up in the teeth of somebody performing above described test.

Early on in my vaping, I did need to see the vapour. Funny that when I smoked I didn't consider the smoke as important. Once I got hooked on flavour, seeing the vapour lost its importance for me.

I have noticed that when it's humid, there is a lot more vapour and it hangs in the air longer and sinks rather than going upwards like cigarette smoke. In the car, with windows open or AC going, it probably wouldn't be humid, so maybe that's another factor.

If you don't already have one, consider getting a passthrough & car adapter that can plug into your lighter socket. The higher voltage might give you greater hit & flavour, and that might help.

Huge mythbuster fan, here is the answer
Windows down vs. air conditioning

"Urban puzzle": it is more efficient, on a hot day, to run with the A/C on and windows up than to run with windows down (b/c of increasing car's drag).

Computer-based mpg measurements: * 11.7/11.8 with A/C on and windows up * 11.7/11.8 with A/C off and windows up * 11.3 with A/C off and windows down

So, according to the computer, it's better to use A/C with windows up.

This was too quick and easy for TV, so they decided to stage a seven hour marathon, race-til-you're-empty duel, with Jamie driving an SUV with A/C on and Adam driving an SUV with windows down. Though, once the safety inspector intervened, it was no longer a seven-hour marathon, it was a bit slower (45mph instead of 55mph), and a lot shorter (only 5 gallons each).

Jamie's A/C car ran out of gas first -- Adam's windows down SUV ran for another 30 laps -- completely contradicting the computer mpg estimate. Computer estimate based on air flow into the engine, so it would appear that it is unable to properly model the difference between A/C and windows down.

Like smoke rings? Cool. I've tried, but can't do it. Secret?

Try taking a nice drag and exhaling it immediately slowly in empty paper towel tube and blow out in pulses it makes nice thick vapor rings. Or crush a empty bottle water and exhale the vapor in it and squeeze in short pulses. Don't get me wrong I can do it with my mouth I was just finding other ways to do it just to kill time lol.

Thanks, I'll try it!!

Vaping at the beach even with the smallest amount of wind/breeze also lessens the vapor exhale and with that, the satisfaction of same. Indoor vaping is much more satisfying as there is no resistance to the vapor.

But I vape outside all the time, with breeze, wind, gales. And I still get plenty of vapour!

Me thinks you need a hobby

Vape bubbles? Oh, yeah, I get it, I used to do that with cigarettes. Inhale smoke and blow it out through the bubble ring, and the smoke is encased in the bubble.
They looked cool :2cool: , will have to try with vapour.

Ok, so let me see if I have this right...

70 mph vaping will involve the following.........

Me flying down the highway, V4L fired up nicely...
with a Capt. Crunch cereal box tucked nicely over the top to shield the wind, in one hand...
A bottle of kids bubbles in the other hand so I can blow ' Vape Bubbles'
While I have these 2 guys from Myth Busters arguing in my back seat on whether I should have the windows up and A/C on.....

I just wanted to make sure I was clear on this :2cool:
(where are those dam car keys anyways)

The Adventure Continues
Take care.

Trust me, car travel has never been so much fun, you will love it and never go back to the old ways
