I'm still confused as to what is meant by 901 carts or atomizers. Is it a style or flavor or strength?
Believe me I was confused as anyone starting out. Have you read this yet?http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...ping-illustrated-guide-e-cigs-part-1-6-a.html

There are other fine guides out there too. I like this one just cause I like his writing style.

I read that and other guides learned the difference between 2 piece and 3 piece systems. Then decided the Kr8 was right for me to start on. Then decided Vapor4Life was right to be my main supplier. Your mileage may vary but I'm a fanboy

Cartomizers are what the KR8 uses, what the vapor king from V4L uses. It has a built in atomizer (the part that heats the juice). Three piece units such as the 901 have a separate atomizer and use a cart to hold the juice and filler. The 901 atomizers fit on the V4L batteries so you can buy those and the carts to experience a three piece unit.

It has nothing to do with the juice flavor or strength though it can change how the juice tastes. Many say they prefer the way the cartomiers bring out the flavors in the juices as opposed to the separate atomizer and cart combinations.

Heads up on using a 901 on a Vapor King battery. First, the auto batteries don't work so well with the 901 atty, it is just hard to trigger the battery. Second, on the manual batteries, the draw is still pretty tight with the 901 whistle tip in place, but the draw is good if you take the whistle tip off. But then, so you don't burn your lips you need to cut the end off of a carto condom and slip it over the open 901 for a nice comfy place to rest your lips while you direct drip the 901.

Of course, I'd just recommend direct dripping a KR instead, but flavor changing while dripping is easier with the 901.
