I for the most part have been very pleased with using the ecig, but during some research I have encountered individuals who claim upon switching from analogs to the ecig they state they have gained weight. I myself am very self conscious about weight gain, and since I have four events coming up that I need to lose weight for I am a bit nervous. If anyone here has successfully made the switch with having no weight gain what did you do to prevent it or is this just a myth to try and keep people on analogs?

Welcome to the forum.

It was a HUGE concern of mine because I gained weight when I tried to quit smoking and it took forever to try to lose it.

Happy (thrilled actually) to say I didn't gain a pound when I started vaping. That need to cram everything in sight into your mouth isn't there with vaping because you have your pv!

I also never had one side effect of quitting smoking.

Hi serielda, being a middle aged woman I get your concern :) Weight was always foremost in my mind while quitting. But for me personally I've lost 15 pounds since I quit smoking and started vaping. Part of it is because I've finally been empowered enough to take control of my body and have since started exercising and eating healthier. I no longer cringe in fear over the thought excerise and working out became fun since I'm able to breath.

Quitting has so many Pro's....Please don't let the worry of a pound or two hurt your efforts. This is the best thing you can ever do for yourself......Vape on! :)

I lost weight when I switched. For starters, having the dessert flavored liquids curbed my sweet tooth. Secondly, doubling my water intake flushed out my system, I drank less soda, and I reduced my appetite.

Most people gain weight after smoking because they replace the hand to mouth action with snacking. Just be conscious of it and watch what you eat and you should be fine. There is nothing in ecigs that is going to cause you to gain weight.

I have to agree with everyone else here, I've lost weight and started generally being more active and healthy since quitting analogs.

I also find the dessert flavors curbing my sweet tooth and the amount of water I drink keeps me feeling fuller and keeps me more energetic now (you have to drink a lot more water when vaping).

As a person who needed to lose weight before I quit analogs, I was also concerned. I gain weight just by thinking about food. I have been analog free and vaping for slightly more than 1 month and haven't gained any weight at all. If i crave an analog, I vape. If I crave sweets, I vape... You get the trend here. Now that I am breathing better, I am going to start exercising more... so we'll see.

It's been almost two years; I have not gained a pound.

People gain weight when they eat more after no longer being on analogs. People who do not change their eating habits are not going to gain weight.

The first time I quit ten years ago, when obviously there were no e-cigs, I took up a rigorous exercise program at the same time. It served twofold, 1) when I had withdrawals I worked out to shake it out of my system and 2) it kept me active to compensate for any extra calories I might have taken in after quitting. I never gained weight that time either and I was off analogs for five years. I took them up again when I went through a lot of personal stress. This time I know I've kicked them for good, and maybe the e-cig keeps my appetite at bay like analogs did as I did not crave any extra food or sweets when I stopped smoking.

I'm 52 years old, and I've lost about 4 lbs since I started vaping. I've not changed one thing in my diet, except for taking 2 fiber pills about every morning, but I doubt that has anything to do with it. I think it's because I've taken care of the hand-to-mouth problem I've always had in the past when quitting smoking. I can now taste all those flavors I love, at 0 calories!

Im a newbie to vaping but a serial analog quitter...and I really think that for some people, they gain weight simply because they think it's inevitable! It's not.

I am 54 and the last two times I quit smoking I actually lost a few pounds each time. My thinking was, well I want to smoke after eating, so the obvious answer to that was - don't eat very often. :) Really it was that simple; it was just a choice I made since I am not happy being heavy. I chewed straws instead....I imagine it would be even easier with all the flavor choices vaping gives you.

Unlike some others I have actually gained a few pounds but I needed/wanted to. I'm 5'7" and was 112 lbs. I have managed to get up to 119 lbs. I enjoy food more now that it tastes so much better.

For me, I experienced the opposite regarding food taste. When my taste buds were no longer 'deadened' from analogs, there were certain things I used to like when smoking that I couldn't stand after I quit. They tasted really different, and not all that good.

I was already a picky eater to begin with, now I'm even worse! LOL The cheaper food I used to think was okay, I can't eat anymore. I guess that isn't a bad thing though as they might not have been healthy items.
