Nic alternative? What's this?

A liquid that contains ingredients intended to give you throat hit (of a sort) but without nicotine. So far I haven't found any that give you the same kind of throat hit as nicotine -- usually it's a very different kind of throat hit -- but Flash so far has come closest to being a marginally acceptable booster to lower nicotine mixes to help enhance the TH.

Flash.....?....... I am intrigued Whith this.... available in Canada??

Not that I'm aware of, but I asked Jack at Happy Vaper if he planned to carry it, since he is a registered FlavourArt distributor in Canada and so doesn't have to pay Italy's exorbitant taxes. (Italian law seems to require all vendors in Italy to charge local taxes regardless of where the order originates from unless they have an international tax number.) He had no plans as he'd tried the earlier version of this, QHit, and wasn't impressed, but was interested in my impressions of it and may give it a trial run if I thought it was worth trying. On that note:

I tried cutting back to 9 mg and I hated it because there was no throat hit. This flash stuff sounds promising.

Just keep in mind that this is no miracle worker. In my review it did seem to boost a 6mg liquid to about the TH equivalent of maybe 8-9mg/ml of semi-nicotine-like throat hit when used as 50% of your normal PG/VG base (though you may have to adjust that base to account for the 65/33 PG/VG ratio of Flash), but did also include those capsaicin components that caused a bit of irritation of the soft palate and a bit of radiating warmth in the lungs. Not enough in this type of mix to make me want to cough, but it's noticeable. However, it doesn't do nearly enough to satisfy my TH craving as a complete replacement for nicotine.

Still, it's not particularly expensive and if Jack decides to carry some on a trial basis it's worth trying out as a mild booster to slightly lower nic. Just know that while it probably won't colour the flavour of your juices, it will make it feel just a little bit spicy.

Great vids. I don't know if I'll ever try the Flash or any other booster, but it's good to have someone's experience to base a decision on.

I definitely think it won't be for everyone. It's a bit spicy (particularly on its own) so if you're sensitive to that sort of thing or just don't like it in a vape, it's probably something you'll want to take a pass on. But it was interesting to try it out anyway. I'll admit I was kind of hoping for a bit more from it, but I can't be too disappointed as this is is still a highly experimental area of vaping.

We have investigated boosters to no end and I have paid for chemists opinions on this one for the obvious business benefits it would have, and while this is not a comment on any product out there that anyone is selling, we found most to be potentially MUCH more harmful than the nic they are replacing. Most are based on a pepper variant of some sort, which can be very harmful to the lungs linings after a repeated time. Trust me I wish we could come to the table with a 0mg that had hit as it would sell by the truck full but there is no amount of money worth risking anyones health. Please before trying any of these "boosters" research the ingredients CAREFULLY.

It's true that I don't think any of us here really have any long-term data on the usage of such additives -- heck, we don't have long-term data on the inhalation of PG/VG (other than that study with monkeys in the, what was it, 1940s?) or flavourings, so in the end we're all guinea pigs to some degree or another. However I'd be much more inclined to be wary of anything containing pepper extracts of any sort, as I really don't care much for them or the hit they give, which is much too different than a nicotine hit. But I think the real problem is that, apart from boosters that are based on straight capsaicin, nobody's really listing ingredients. FlavourArt certainly don't (though I know there's capsaicin in there), nor does Vapor Pros (which seems primarily to consist of ethyl alcohol and is useless anyway).

It does seem like nobody really has anything that hits like real nicotine. I have heard that whole tobacco alkaloids do provide a significant boost to throat hit, and real throat hit at that -- but then, we're talking about WTAs, some of the things we switched to E-cigs to try and get away from in the first place. They may not be combusted which is the bit in analogs that creates the majority of the truly harmful chemicals, but they still can't be good.

I'm sure the quest will continue, but right now it seems as though there really are no additives that can provide a throat hit boost like nicotine, much less a real nicotine alternative.
