I've been using a voltage meter with my mechs for the last 3 years, the same one, which has worked perfectly for checking the remaining voltage in my batteries all that time. Lately that has changed, and that voltage checker has been shorting my mech and collapsing my bottom springs with heat, sinking the battery down into the mech where it cannot contact the switch in the top/side button of my Poldiacs. Pretty strange and an entirely new problem for me.

I stopped using it and immediately ordered a new one, but I really don't understand what changed with that voltage checker that's been so reliable for so long. I have the new voltage checker now and it's not doing that at all.

Has anyone else experienced this? I'm trying to understand what could have changed with that first voltage checker.

Agree with bad ninja...internals probably failed.

Do you have a DMM? You can check the continuity and see if it shorted out. You might be able to crack it open and remake some connections.

No I don't have a DMM, and I already have the new voltage checker which is working fine. The old one started doing this just after I cleaned the threads on it. That might have had something to do with it, I'm not sure.
