Hi all! This is my first thread here. I guess I want to start off by saying that I made a classic noob mistake and ordered a blu for my first e cig. After a few weeks of waiting, I e-mailed the company only to find out that they were out of black. Too easy, order the white and cancel the black, right? :glare: Wrong, the black one came although I had canceled the order. I had quickly realized the error of my ways and grabbed up an ego starter kit plus 5 empty carts and an LR atty from valuevapor.com (which came out to be CHEAPER than the piece o crap blu). There is no comparison between the two. Now I'm stuck with an extra blu kit and feel almost bad trying to sell it to someone. Like I would be doing them a disservice if I let them buy it. Anyways, that was my intro, but I digress...

I had a few questions about the ego.

1) As I vape, sometimes it gets kind of hot in my hand. Is this normal, and should I be worried?

2) What is the big to do about the cartomizers? The way I understand it is that they are pretty disposable and hard to refill. Would that not cost more money in the long run? What are the advantages of using cartos over conventional carts + attys?

The Atomizer should get hot with normal use. Especially the LR attys. If your battery is hot then run for the hills. Cartomizers are far better than carts and if I wasnt a dripper I would be using cartomizers.

You would think cartomizers would cost more in the long run but that is not true. In my opinion you waste more juice with carts than you vape.

Cartomizers are not hard to refill at all and they will vape far longer than a standard cart.

Loan the Blu out to a freind that wants to try vaping. It put you on the path right?

You are probably chain vaping the thing. It is normal but running really hot for long periods is tough on the atty. The LR's run hotter than standard anyway. When I use LR's I leave the cone off to disipate heat.

Cartomizers can last a long time. I use them when driving.

You CAN refill cartomizers. It is not difficult at all. I know you read my multi-page thread but i did not mention how to refill them.

Do a YouTube search on how to refill cartomizers. Basically, you just use one of the rubber caps. Put juice in it, then slide the cartomizer back in it and it forces the liquid in it. Simple. People refer to it as the condom method.

This is my first day with my EGO, but I cannot see any advantage of an atomizer plus a cartridge - but perhaps there is a reason i am not aware of like taste or something.

As far as ONLY using pre-filled cartomizers - I think the taste is better if you put liquid in them.

Yes, the atty's can get hot if taking quite a few hits in a short time, it is the heat that causes the vaps. The only worry is if it gets really hot, can happen if the button sticks on or you forget to release it. Cartomizers are currently disposable, but that may change as different types are created. I find the carts to be quite usable, easy to fill and top off. And you can change flavors with each refil.

I had the same problem with my atty, and it burnt out in 2 weeks (permanently burnt taste). Now I carry two (or three...) on me, normally different flavors. Main reason I keep two on me is so I can puff one 3-4 times, then switch, that way they get ample time to cool down.

No idea on cartos, I haven't tried them myself and don't see why they would be better. I don't waste juice, blue foam in the standard 510 and my own version of ZFM for the mega/xl carts. I fill the XL ones once a day (or two days), they vape dry every time.
