Sorry but my doctor friends take pleasure in reminding me of the futility of such conversation, a cold/virus/etc can be harboured for weeks/months before becoming noticeable, it's near impossible to determine cause and effect with such disparity and distance between factors and noticeable results.

Saying that, cleanliness is always a good thing :)

Getting a virus in your cartos would seem a bit hard to do. Viruses are not as widespread in the air as bacteria would be(at least not the kind that gets human sick). You would need to be in close proximity to somebody that has the virus or share and or touch something they used. There maybe some viruses that can be widespread even if your locked up in your own house, but its probably some bio warfare technology. If its bacteria then the PG would kill it and probably the nicotine as well.

I have about 12 cartos going some are 2-3 weeks old with liquid in them and just the white cap on and have not had any problems at all.

No, getting a virus from a carto "should be" impossible : "A virus is a small infectious agent that can replicate only inside the living cells of organisms. " A carto isn't a living organism. It's possible that a virus got in the carto if someone infected used it, or sneezed (etc) on it.

Who said it would have to replicate on the carto in order to get it? It would just have be living on it and transfer to your mouth, then it would have all the living organisms it needed to replicate. Still I think it would be pretty damn hard to get one. If you shared your PV with something to try a juice and they had a virus then the odds of getting it are much higher.

We agree :) didn't mean to sound like I wasn't agreeing with you.

Two things people often tend to overlook 1) some flu viruses can live for 48 hours outside the body (this long isn't all that common though) and 2) one of the main culprits for viral infection is rubbing your eyes after touching something that the virus was on (like doorknobs and the like).

I suppose the OP could have transferred a virus from a doorknob to his hand and then onto his PV as well.

Moral to the story; wash your hands and use Lysol around the house. ;)

Just my :2c: here. While bacteria and viruses living in the juice is pretty much an impossibility there are still some concerns. The outside of the carto, the drip tip if used, and even the pv itself. These little ickys can live outside of the body for some time and survive on non-porus surfaces.

Think of it this way, the mouth has thousands upon thousands of little icky's living in it. I put my mouth on the drip tip and transfer those ickys to the OUTSIDE of the tip. Those ickys are what can be transferred to others. When sharing a PV, even the act of touching can transfer ickys.

Be safe, don't share your PV's or drip tips, and clean your's on a regular basis.

To the OP, if your friend had some bacteria or a virus on his hands then touched your pv, it is now contaminated. You pick it up, transfer the virus to your hands, and hours later rub your eyes, touch your mouth, pick your nose (lol) and now you have the virus.

Another reason not to share your PV (Except maybe with spouse). If you must... and for cartos in particular, keep a spare carto to "share/give" to the other person, and throw it out when done. Doesn't solve the need to decontaminate the exterior, but hey... doorknobs, etc. whatayagonnado?

And I drip... not old cartos around. Old juice bottles sometimes... but hey. Same would hold for e-juice bottles that have been partially used. They still get air sucked back into them, touch your PV ect. So lets hope the PG does its job.

You clearo users should me more worried about sunlight/heat if you use the carto for storage.

I grew up playing in the woods, working at boarding stables and drinking well water. I don't worry too much about microbes and I never get sick. I think we've weakened our immune systems with all this "hand sanitizer" mentality.

I think you're right about "hand sanitizer" mentality... every other product these days is labeled "anti-bacterial". My personal favorite is dish soap since soap is "anti-bacterial" to begin with. It's like saying a fire extinguisher is "anti-fire".

Active people generally have stronger immune systems. Same goes for people who eat right, don't drink alcohol and don't smoke... no wonder I get sick. It's the beer! I knew it.

Alright, I'm not here to troll, but I believe this ought to be said.

I am convinced that cartomizers, when left sitting for a period of time, can accumulate bacteria and/or other undesirable things. I say this because I've caught a vicious cold twice now, and I'm normally pretty resilient to such things. Having used clear cartomizers, I've seen the yuckiness that can accumulate inside. It makes sense that this could be a favorable environment for harboring germs.

If you use cartomizers and like to stretch out their lifespans, protect them with a condom! Or put 'em in the fridge. Or keep the space clean. Furthermore, don't share with others! I'd venture to say someone who's sick would be able to contaminate a cartomizer pretty easily.

Okay, feel free to disagree, but I believe this is a pretty sensible piece of advice.

I haven't had a cold or flue in 2 years. I have been vaping for 16 months. Good eating habits = a good lifestyle and immune system. OTOH, at may age most of the cold virus we have been in contact with in our lifetime. Pure conjecture, nothing else IMHO.
