1st of all, two things:

A) Really nice forum here – an absolute wealth of information.
B) “analogs” = funniest thing I’ve heard in a while – lmao!

I tried an e-cig the other day and I THINK I’M IN LOVE! I’ve been smoking for over 25 years, have quit several times (for as long as three months), but have always ended up smoking again. After my first couple of hours I said to myself; “this may actually work.”

As I said, I’m a long-time smoker who has quit over and over. I started as a young teenager with cigarettes, transitioned to pipes and cigars for several years, but often return to cigs for the convenience (it’s hard to enjoy a pipe during a 5 min. smoke break at work). After quitting I’ve always started again for different reasons, but I believe the root cause is that I really enjoy smoking – I enjoy the rich flavors of pipes and cigars (nothing quite like a nice Maduro with some well aged Scotch), and the nic-addiction is a hard demon to beat.

That being said, I really want to give vaping a go. I understand there are a lot of unknowns, but it has to be better than the cancer sticks. I’ve done a little research and am considering the following for starters.

Epipe - Epipe DSE601C Starter Kit V2 (Exchangeable Cartomizers) [E-B1 DSE 601C] - $56.50 : Healthcabin Electronic Cigarettes - Wholesale and Retail

Vampage VMOD 2.0 - Vapage VMOD 2.0 Premium System

I welcome any feedback you can offer for someone new staring out; how either of these would be for a newbie, what other equipment/accessories are recommended, and anything else you’d like to share.

Also, one big question – where to start with the juice? My understanding that 28mg nic is a good place to start for a medium-heavy smoker, but any recommendations what and where to buy? There seems to be a HUGE variety of flavors – and suggestions for someone who enjoys menthol cigarettes, full-bodied maduro cigars, and dark/slightly sweet pipe tobacco?

Many Thanks

Heavy cigar smoker as well

I haven't tried either of the kits so it wouldn't be fair to pass any judgment on them.
Granted what I do know is that both sites will probably offer juice for sale as well. I started with 24mg as I was a pack a day Marlboro reds smoker. I enjoy vaping so much I do it way more frequently than smoking so I've gone down to 18mg and down to 12mg or less at night while I'm just sitting at the computer vaping m y brains out, that way you don't nic OD yourself. Welcome to the board and have fun expiry mentions. We're here if you need anything

I was always interested in the epipes but never had one myself, I can tell you with that you will get a decent battery life. I have ordered from healthcabin before and was very impressed with the quality and speed of shipping. I ordered from a US based company and there before that order came first - they are based in china just fyi. As far as juice goes I ordered many flavors from healthcabin in the past from the Dekang tobacco flavored juices are good, a little sweet tasting though. After trying many and thinking i would like the tobacco based best i settled on grape and have used that flavor exclusively for the past 2 years. As far as the strength, what strength was the one you fell in love with? I would say start there.

I started with 18mg and found that wasnt enought, I smoked 20+5 (much more if I had a bad day or was in lots of pain) analogs a day full flavor 100s, and had been smoking for 40 years.
My SO started with 24mg, and that worked good for him, I found going up to the 24mg helped me where the 18mg wasnt quite cutting it.
You can always reduce how much you need. I go thru about 3ml of juice a day. You only absorb about 30 -40% of the nic, and it doesnt get absorbed as easy as analogs threw the lungs, its more in the mouth, throat.

From what I understand anything over 24 mg can cause problems with heart beating fast, and more side effects. But I know there are people that use 36 mg.

I started off with an eGo-C kit a few weeks ago now, but just upgraded to a bottom feeder similar to the VMOD (a VV REO actually) and couldn't be happier. There's a bit of a learning curve to making it perform the way you want, but once you get the hang of it the consistency, flavor, and portability are awesome. I have to admit, though, that I'm more than a little curious about the e-pipes. My roommate makes fun of me for carrying around these funny-looking devices and says "why don't you find one that looks like a pipe?"
