I am a firm believer in user error and that's why I'm asking here first.

I just got my shorty kit. So far the battery life is fine. I like using an auto battery with cartos when I'm playing a game so in theory the auto shorties are ideal. Now comes the but...I have to take 3-4 primer puffs before I can get a half way decent hit and even then it's not a good one. I've tried the same carto on my 901 and 510 batteries that I use with an adapter and it's fine so I know it's not the carto. I line up the holes on the battery to meet the slots on the carto. I did it where I have at least one hole visible and have done it with 2 visible. Neither one works. I still have to take 3-4 primer puffs to get a weak hit. Any ideas on what to do or is this just the nature of shorties?

I've had a few cartos that don't sync fully. Try the carto out on another battery if you have one or the PT.
If you get a good hit then keep swapping cartos until you find one that fits the auto. This happens once in every 10-15 cartos for me. Sometimes the carto won't even go on my auto XL and I need to use my manual XL or PT to vape it.
They all still work though for me so no real complaints on any of this. V4L I'm sure will be making changes and the VK-1 when it hits may resolve all of this anyways. :D

I've tried the same carto on other batteries besides the two shorties that came with the kit and it works fine. I've also tried a few other cartos on the shorties and they dont want to work right either. Since it's like this on both shorties I tend to lean towards user error and it not be a problem with the batteries. I know there is a learning curve with them as there is with all the different models.

Do you find your drags very HARD or very light?

I've tried all sorts of different ways to hit it. Long and slow, short and hard (hehe, add those words to the condom buttplug mix and it sounds down right nasty, lol) I've been using the cartos for a few months now but have been using them on 901 and 510 batteries with adapters and have had no problems. And that is another thing that makes me lean towards user error and not a problem with the batteries. I really like the weight and feel of the shorties and the auto is perfect for gaming but it's just real aggravating right now.

Jules I am wondering about cleaning the threads of the batt. Give it a real brushing or wiping with alcohal. See if that helps in the least. I seem to remember a lady in the women's room with the same problem..she cleaned the trhreads. As I recall she said the cartos wobbled on the batt.

Already did that too. I didnt get anything off them but they are new batteries. I just got them yesterday. I still think there is something I'm missing. It has to be user error since it's both batteries. It took me a week to figure out the 510 and decide that I liked it. I"m hoping this is the same case with the shorties. I have a PT for my 510 and the cartos all work on that with an adapter also, so it has to be something that I"m doing wrong with the batteries.

Jules, my first 2 or 3 days I got frustrated at times with my shorties too. I had one that was really tempermental. I used a binder clip inside the hole on the center battery post and wiggled it around and made sure it was centered and now it works great. Maybe that's what did it or maybe it was the learning curve, but that was the only one I had problems with and it was similar to your problem. Hope it helps.

Ha, I was just typing a post to you on your thread about your shorties, lol I do have one of those clips handy so I'll give it a try and see if that helps. Thanks!

Perfect! You are a genius! I am now happily vaping a raspberry cobbler carto on my shorty and loving it! Thanks bunches!

Thanks to everyone for the help and advice!

Glad I could be of assistance. Thanks goes to Maxx too. He helped me with mine. And I got to help someone on here for my 1st time.

Feels good doesn't it? I haven't had to ask for help in quite awhile but this battery thing really had me stumped. Thanks to Maxx too! Hopefully I'll be able to pass it along to someone else too.

I'm sorry, I'm not understanding the binder clip suggestion? Anybody feel like posting a video, or diagram or something?

Oh Jules, Glad it worked! I guess you have to try everything before you hit on the right thing. The lady with the gunked up batt was also using a brand new one..it had somehow gotten something on it in the making or transfered from a carto..she said it was like glue.

wisteelersfan, That was brillient!

I never thought about them coming with something on them like that. I'll make sure to keep that in mind in the future.

I used one of these. Took the clip handle off of it. Used the end to gently insert it into the hole on the battery and just gave it a slight turn/jiggle. Tried the carto again and it worked great. Just be very easy and very careful. It doesn't take a lot of movement.

Just to make sure; you inserted it in the hole in the center? in the middle of the post? I've seen other suggestions to insert a clip into side holes (on the threads) and try to raise/center the post this way. I'm not quite sure I understand (I'm slow:D) and I don't want to ruin the battery.

Thanks.

Yep. Gently in the center hole of the battery and wiggle it around a bit as you pull up lightly. The hook on the clip seems to grab onto the inside of the post and pulls it up if it's stuck. Mine actually popped up as I tried to wiggle it. Now it works great. Using it right now with a Parliament Menthol preme cart:thumb:

Thank you so much. I have a couple of batteries that won't take charge from my wall charger, even though they charge perfectly well on my USB charger. Paw suggested centering/raising the post but I was afraid to do it. I'll try your method. Or it may be the wall charger. Is it possible that wall charger only would work with some batteries and not with the others?
