I actually support the rules here.
ECF members sometimes forget they are guests in someone's house.
Act accordingly or you will be asked to leave. Just like in real life.

No message forum allows members to advertise for free. This shouldn't be strange to anyone. Almost every board on the net has this rule.
ECF is a great place, and the staff has a massive job moderating a community of this size.

However,
I've seen a quite few instances where moderators should have acted, and handled a situation, more professionally.
Without members and traffic, you don't have a site to moderate. A little professionalism goes a very long way.

Constructive feedback from an experienced, supportive member.

Now...
Who has the bacon?
I do, I do, I do. Just got that flavor in my most recent vapemail!!!!! :D

Exactly right.

I don't mind the rules as much as other people do and I'm a die-hard ECF-er. I understand the arguments on both sides, however.

From what I've read about Roxy's recent debacle, I get the feeling that she wasn't treated with kindness and respect she deserves. Roxy was one of the most knowledgeable members of this forum and she was always incredibly helpful to all of us. I've learned a lot from her myself and I'm truly sorry that she's gone. Her departure, for whatever reason, is a huge loss to our community.

I don't know all the details, of course, but if she left because of heavy-handed moderation and/or lack of proper and courteous communication with the staff, it's really a shame.

Just another attempt at constructive feedback from a supportive veteran member.

I missed what happened with Roxy, but she was instrumental as a helpful ECF member. I can't imagine why she didn't just get a temporary suspension. But, I don't know the details.
Yeah I thought that the Roxy thing would be resolved by now. Better than a week ago SJ responded to a thread and said they were working diligently on the issue and it would be resolved soon. I really really really wonder what happened and why we're still in the same boat, with the same threads, and the same resentments and questions a week and a half later?

Because we are an internet forum?

You quoted me so I have to add:
My comments had nothing to do with Roxy or that situation at all.
Don't pull me or my comments into that cluster:censored:. You might not like where it leads.:smokie:
