Ok, so I have a RSST, wrapped at 1.32 ohms. Is the voltage being supplied by the mech, to the RSST, whatever the voltage is in the battery?

So, a fully charge AW 18650 puts out about 4.1/2 volts. Is this the voltage the RSST is receiving? Then as the voltage gets lower, the voltage to the RSST drops along with it?

That is correct. The overall wattage will diminish as the battery losses power.

If you have a variable voltage mod they usually correct the problem by forcing the battery to send the correct voltages. A mechanical mod has a direct connection so has no way to "fix" the voltage/wattage. If you use a mechanical there is a device called a kick... or stomp that will even out the power for you.

No. There is a voltage drop in all mechanical mods. A .6-.7 ohm coil gives me a .25-.3 drop in voltage under load on my nemesis. What mech are you using? Have you cleaned the threads, etc? There are a lot of variables in voltage drop for mechanical mods.

I am using an RSST with a 7 wrap 28g Kanthal on doubled over 3mm silica. Comes out to 1.32 Ohms. Works fine. I am using it on a VV at the moment, but I have a Roller on the way. I wasn't too worried about the voltage drop, when firing. Just wanted an idea of what was happening when using a Mech. I have always used VVs.

Well I have an ohm meter. Looks like I need to get a inline voltage meter. It will let me know more of what is happening.

Thanks all.

Thank you. But of course, this leads to other questions.

At about 1.3 ohms, what would be a good voltage to run at VV at?

If I put a kick in a Mech, what would be a good wattage to set it at?

Greg W.
at 1.3 ohms, I vape at 15watts. actually 1.5 ohms. but close enough. i only vape 1.1ohms for my mech and 1.5 for my VV
