I'm lucky in that I have not had a cigarette since my first kit arrived - nor have I wanted one. My son also started vaping a week ago (I bought his kit) and he's still having 1-2 real smokes a day. I have no idea why as I actually smoked more than he did. The way I see it, it's not how many cigs you smoke - it's how many you didn't...

Hi all

Another newbie here. I live in the US but am from London and as a flight attendant get to go there every week. They're a lot more forward thinking about vaping and I picked up a disposable vapstick in a pharmacy and really liked it. When I got back to Boston I ordered something called Hello Jewels. I did really well for a couple of days and was happily vaping away and didn't have an analog for three days. Now about 10 days on I don't feel like I'm getting the same sort of hit and am sneaking in three or four analogs a day. I was a 2 pack a day girl and really want to stop analogs altogether.

I think maybe I need a higher spec PV. I don't mind if it's expensive as I'm spending so much on analogs I figure it'd pay for itself. I was even looking at Provaris but it looks a bit "manly" and heavy. I'm trying to do as much research as I can but there's so much info and a whole new language to learn that I'm getting stuck.

There's a Ecig place in MA that I'm planning on heading to this week. Any top recs? Like I said I don't mind it being on the expensive side. I need something that's easy to pack as I fly 4-5 days a week so dripping wouldn't be the sort of thing I'd be into.

Any suggestions gratefully received.

Look for something with a battery over 500mah. Higher numbers mean longer vaping on a charge. You can count on an hour of vaping per 100mah of battery capacity. An eGo, Riva, Kgo, or any 510 threaded ecig will be just right. Size is important to some and they tend to select things that resemble a cigarette in size. If you don't mind a little larger battery, it will pay off in vaping pleasure and the option to upgrade the atomizer, cartomizer, and even use tanks if you want to. You can't do that on the smaller batteries.

Look at the mods in this database. There are pictures, descriptions, and reviews in 8 or so categories. Click the "browse by feature" link under the menu to narrow your search.

If you like the Provari, but not the size, you might be interested in the Infinity.

Don't beat yourself up over the "cheater" cigs. Instead, celebrate all the analogs you've skipped!

Finding the right gear is sooo important. Can't comment on what you have now or what you plan to upgrade to, because I've been really happy with mine and haven't needed to venture out much. But once you find the right gear that's dependable and hits just right, it'll get easier. Finding a go-to flavor is important too. Maybe try out some juice places with samplers, and don't limit yourself to tobacco flavors. I ventured out and tried flavors of desserts I was craving, and not only have I lost 40+ pounds (haha, don't have to eat dessert anymore - crazy sweet tooth too!), but now I can't even vape menthol anymore (smoked menthol cigs for 30 years). You just never know what those go-to flavors might be.

"Toughening up" too might not be a bad thing. If you can stick it out without an analog for a week or two, you might just find on your next one that analogs just taste nasty and gross, they're uncomfortably irritating, they smell really bad, and you'll never want another one again, like has happened to so many of us! :)

Congrats! Keep up the good work!

I have not read all the responses here but surely someone has suggested you step up to 24mg at least for a while. That will help you. Also, what you need to understand is that vaping will never be able to deliver nicotine into your system as fast as smoking can. With that in mind, try to get your nicotine level up in the morning and then maybe switch to a lower nicotine dosage after oh say 10 am?

Vaping delivers on the nicotine but much more slowly. You will be vaping more than you used to smoke. That's just how it works.

Think about this too. Even if you have a cigarette or two each day for a while. You've probably spent how many years smoking? A few more probably won't harm you too much. Just keep at it and you'll also want to try out a few devices which create a heavier vapor and throat hit.

I read somewhere that somebody did a study on smoking and its effects on the lungs. Their conclusion was they couldn't see any ill effects with 1 a day. Having said that, 0 is better than 1! But 1 or 2 is way better than 20!

Like many people have said before, think about the ones you didn't have! Try different juices at different nic levels. I've found the same as many - 24mg in am then that's too high for me!

Like others I find it hard to knock those last one or two analogs on the head. After hearing that Nicotine is just one of the substances in tobacco that are craved I have started trying a couple of pieces of Swedish Snus a day along with my vaping and that seems to help. People in Sweeden use it alot and the statistics show it is relatively safe. There are also WTA juices now which I haven't tried but are getting good reports from those finding it hard to completely stop the analogs.

those last few are tough for me too, but in comparison to 1.5 packs, I can still feel good about it. My friend who turned me on to vaping still smoked occasionally for awhile after he started, but now hasn't had an analog for awhile. Said he just stopped eventually. Just threw the cigs out when he realized he still had them.

hi all, new to the forum! not new to vaping though. been doing it for about 2 years and relatively analog free. i've gotta say info here is quite accurate and i am glad to have stumbled upon the site!
as for the occasional analogs thing, its not too much to worry about imo. my experience with making the switch was that its very tricky to do at first w.o. cheating but with a little bit of effort you just naturally start using your pv more and more than the analogs. eventually i just got turned off the nasty taste and smell of the analogs and the same was true with many friends who got into vaping around the same time. transition takes a different amount of tme for everyone though so keep on truckin!
