A noob hello from Las Vegas

Hello from Las Vegas, NV! I guess I should make a quick "about me" post so I can eventually post in the other areas of ECF. Here goes...

I'm originally from NYC. I enlisted in the USAF in 1989, spent 20 years working for God and Country, and retired 4.5 years ago to start working in the civilian workforce. I smoked (yup, past tense, but don't get ahead of me) for some 25 years and quit a few times during that period. The longest was for about a year after using Zyban.

I decided to quit smoking... again last month. I have a few friends in the area who own e-cig stores so I figured I'd chat with them to see if e-cigs were right for me. I'm glad I did because I bought an eGo Twist starter kit and haven't touched an analog for the entire month of March. I still have cravings every so often, but I reach for my e-cig instead when I do. I recently upgraded to a longer lasting yet still relatively inexpensive APV--the SmokTech ACE. Hopefully, it'll last a while. I'm still debating on getting into rebuildables, but my hands were never too great with fine detailed work and are now rapidly deteriorating with arthritis.

One last thing before I close. My sense of smell has definitely returned. If you've ever been to Las Vegas, you know much of it is smoker friendly. I kept away from bars and the like for this past month to help ease my transition and decided to go to a movie this weekend. Many movie theaters are in casinos here, and yup, they really do smell as bad as my nonsmoker friends told me. But I'm not a whiny nonsmoker. I'm a happy vaper!

TLDR: From NYC, live in Las Vegas now, smoked for 25+ years, happy vaper for the past month, and my sense of smell has returned. :)

Cheers,
Pugs

Vegas is definitely smoker friendly, but I foresee changes in the future. I don't frequent the casinos, but their nonsmoking gambling sections are rapidly increasing in size and number. Then again, they passed a law several years ago banning smoking in bars that serve food unless they meet certain requirements, but the law has an "enforcement loophole." They delegated enforcement to the Health Department who can't detain or fine the lawbreaker. So it's basically up to the establishment to enforce the law so they don't get fined. Since the casinos are so corporate nowadays, I doubt they'll put up much of a fight and that may include how they view vaping too. *sigh*
