Hello! Thought I'd make a quick intro while I anxiously await my new e-cig shipment. A local news channel did a story on e-cigs last night and I about peed my pants with excitement. Did some cursory research this morning and ordered a Smoke Fifty-One (which was the brand featured on the news) Starter Kit and just one (ONE!) pack of cartridges. I've been smoking for over 30 years, but only smoke about 10 sticks a day. Usually 1/2 a stick at a time - so you can see where the Smoke Fifty-One claim of a cartridge = 2 packs lead me to believe that I'd have cartridges for about 3 weeks. Plenty of time to give it a go. Buyer beware I guess. The one thing I didn't factor in was that the product would be faulty. I assumed the batteries would certainly work and that every cartridge would be as good as the next.
I just watched/read Leaford's review. Apparently reliability is seriously questionable. Sigh. However, I do feel I selected the right type of e-cig. I tried the whole injectible make-your-own cigarette deal a while back. After about 6 weeks, I came to the conclusion that making my own was far far too time consuming and a mess to boot. I think I can handle charging the batteries daily and screwing on a new cartridge every couple of days, but I'd never ever mess around with syringes and paper clips and dripping and all that. I also think the e-cig will "fit" my style of smoking well as I tend to run out for a few puffs many times a day, but rarely "linger" over an entire smoke.
Anyhoo, I am seriously excited about this alternative to traditional smoking. I'd love to hear any additional advice or experiences you might have particularly with regard to the Smoke Fifty-One/Loong Totem type. Does anyone else tend to smoke these just a few puffs at a time? All the posts I've read seem like people tend to suck on these longer than they would a regular cigarette.
I'm in the USA, Minnesota to be precise. I'm sure I'll have many more questions once I actually become an e-smoker. Oh, it just tickles my geeky inner electronics addict AND seems like a great alternative.
