Hello! Thought I'd make a quick intro while I anxiously await my new e-cig shipment. A local news channel did a story on e-cigs last night and I about peed my pants with excitement. Did some cursory research this morning and ordered a Smoke Fifty-One (which was the brand featured on the news) Starter Kit and just one (ONE!) pack of cartridges. I've been smoking for over 30 years, but only smoke about 10 sticks a day. Usually 1/2 a stick at a time - so you can see where the Smoke Fifty-One claim of a cartridge = 2 packs lead me to believe that I'd have cartridges for about 3 weeks. Plenty of time to give it a go. Buyer beware I guess. The one thing I didn't factor in was that the product would be faulty. I assumed the batteries would certainly work and that every cartridge would be as good as the next.

I just watched/read Leaford's review. Apparently reliability is seriously questionable. Sigh. However, I do feel I selected the right type of e-cig. I tried the whole injectible make-your-own cigarette deal a while back. After about 6 weeks, I came to the conclusion that making my own was far far too time consuming and a mess to boot. I think I can handle charging the batteries daily and screwing on a new cartridge every couple of days, but I'd never ever mess around with syringes and paper clips and dripping and all that. I also think the e-cig will "fit" my style of smoking well as I tend to run out for a few puffs many times a day, but rarely "linger" over an entire smoke.

Anyhoo, I am seriously excited about this alternative to traditional smoking. I'd love to hear any additional advice or experiences you might have particularly with regard to the Smoke Fifty-One/Loong Totem type. Does anyone else tend to smoke these just a few puffs at a time? All the posts I've read seem like people tend to suck on these longer than they would a regular cigarette.

I'm in the USA, Minnesota to be precise. I'm sure I'll have many more questions once I actually become an e-smoker. Oh, it just tickles my geeky inner electronics addict AND seems like a great alternative.

Shell i can tell you that there are alternatives for the smoke51 super mini style but considering i never used on i wont out right bash the device. with any device to save the most money you would have to top off or drip to help lengthen the cart life and keep the atomiser from smoking to dry. it is a nice alternative when i first started i used it none stop now i use it every so often and stopped analog completly. good luck with what you have choosen and are doing.

Hello from a fellow newbie. I too jumped the gun and ordered an e-cig off Amazon that is similar to your model...cart/atomizer as one-piece. I was pretty nervous about it too.

So I figured I'd cover my bases and ordered some nic juice from another supplier here, then found some carts that fit and ordered those also. The came within a day or two of each other.

I was nervous about refilling, but have done some research on the forum and have since tried it. It's easy to do, but I can't speak for the longevity of it yet.

My biggest mistake with this specific model is not realizing that battery life was going to be an issue for me. I just ordered another battery, and will be ordering a USB car charger soon.

I smoke 2+ packs a day, and am pretty much constantly puffing through the day. I've had to switch out batteries several times a day. Don't count on one battery per day...that would be an exaggeration like the carton to cartridge claim.

Otherwise I'm very happy with my choice. It meets my psychological needs of puffing on something that looks and feels like a ciggie (although heavier), the vapor is great, and as long as I don't run out of battery power, I'm perfectly happy without regular analogs.

It's a learning curve, and this forum has made it a pleasant one so far. Good luck to you!

Thanks for the advice Sascha! I have read about refilling techniques for the disposables and will learn how I imagine. Only two more days till my order arrives. LOL, I think waiting for the battery to charge is going to kill me. I'm planning to make sure the batteries I get actually work, and just see how I like it and then probably order up more cartridges within the first couple of days. Since I only smoke 1/2 a pack per day now, I'm hoping those first 7 carts will at least last until I can get another order shipped.

Now what I'm nervous about is that I'll just decide it's all fantastic and the FDA hammer will fall.
