Thanks, Phil. I wonder if maybe after they saw what a pain it was to get the carto out to fill it they just said, "Hey, let's put a fill hole in the side. And a big ugly thumbscrew in it." I like my Smoketech tanks with yes, a Boge 3 ohm XL carto on my Lavatube. And I've not had any slow-motion spills involving cursing yet.
I almost shot coffee out my nose as you pulled out the fish scale!

If you warm the tank up in hot water, they are easy to disassemble/reassemble.
