My apologies Chris, I really didnt mean to come off that harsh. No hard feelings
It seems like, as with most things, there are some give-and-takes with what our individual needs are. One particular type of protection (or lack thereof) isn't better than others, different set-ups cater to different needs. pdibs's
mod with the shim yeilds the best performance gains with the least amount of work, but there is a lack of protection with it engaged but it works great for people like us who have a deep understanding of what were doing. Using a special order nano fuse yeilds less performance than the shim but more than a common off-the-shelf fuse, will require a more custom recepticle but will be purpose built and "bullet proof". Using a blade fuse doesn't yeild as good of results as a special order, but has better performance than a resettable, but the fuses are cheap and easy to get. A resettable fuse has the least permormance but is still much better than the spring and far superior protection, this would be a great option for the general public once a rock solid recepticle is designed.
I think this has been mentioned earlier in the thread but if you are not a sub-ohmer and vape under 6A
This is a great option. With the vape safe 2 you could replace the spring with a high performance / no protection spring, obviously the only limitation is the 6A which should be good down to .8ohm.
