John 14 - "In My Father's house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you." John 14:2 (This will be done in a couple of parts. I hate extremely long posts.)

Do you wonder what heaven will be like? I must say that we're limited in our knowledge of heaven. The Bible tells us more about what won't be there than it does about what will be there. But the Bible gives us all we need to know about heaven, and what we know leaves us in breathless wonder. Let me give you some facts about heaven.

Heaven is a real place. Heaven isn't a condition, a state of mind, some will-o'-the -wisp. Heaven is a place on God's map. The apostle Paul was taken into 'the third heaven.' 2Cor. 12:2-4 He wasn't sure if he was there in his body or out of it, but he knew he was there. He called it paradise.

The saved go to heaven immediately up death. Paul wrote, "We are always confident knowing that while we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord." 2 Cor. 12:2-4 Some people think the soul sleeps in the grave to await the resurrection. No, the body awaits the resurrection but the spirit goes immediately to be with Jesus.

We will know our loved ones. Joyce and I will see our little baby boy, Philip. He won't return to us, but we will go to him. 2Sam. 13:23. Paul said that one day we will all live together with Jesus. 1 Thess. 5:9-10

There will be joyful activity in heaven. One of the myths of heaven is that we're going to wear wooly robes and a halo and sit on fluffy couds pucking harps.* But heaven won't be boring. We will serve God in a place full of glory. Rev.7:15

* The asterik is where I want to insert my own thoughts. I have always loved stringed instruments. I have played the violin (my father was a genius with the violin...not me.) and it just wasn't for me. I tried for 5 years. Then I tried piano and though I love the piano, I did not become a pianist. Then I taught myself the guitar and I would still be playing if it weren't for fibro. But, I've always wanted to learn to play a harp and I'd love to sit on a cloud playing one. Talk about silly, but it's true. Or I can sit in my front yard and play.

I am presenting this as it was written.

Heaven is going to be a place of absolute perfection. Their will be no more tears, no more sighing, no more crying, no more dying, no more pain -for the former things are passed away. Rev. 21:4. Heaven is the presence of all that is good and the absence of all that is bad. It's all that the heart of a loving heart of God would desire, the commsumate work of God's genius.

Jesus is the crowning glory of heaven. Heaven is not some sort of an eternal vacation. It's where Jesus is. He is what makes heaven home. (AMEIN) And Jesus wants us to see His glory. John 17:24. Only the redeemed are going to heaven. On this point be clear. When the Bible says you have to be "born again," the literal language is "to be born from above." You have had an earthly birth, and you need a heavenly birth. You have to be heaven born to be heaven bound. The Bible says that a great multitude will be in heaven, and they are those who "washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb." Rev. 7:14. Friend, have you received Christ? Have you been washed in the atoning blood for your sin? Are you sure you are going to heaven?

*Dr. Rogers is now with the Lord. He died about six years ago. I can't wait to meet him as he clarified even the hardest of issues crystal clear. My pastor's favorite pastor was Dr. Rogers.

Now Jesus said that in My Father's house there are many mansions. What kind of mansion would you like? Would you like gaudy? What style, yard, etc. would you like? I'm a wood person. I love wood! I've put my order in for a log cabin. I would like a babbling brook, flowers all over the yard - landscaped, double porch swings, rocking chairs, a perpetual fireplace, 2 story home. I've got it all mapped out in my head. Whether I get one remains to be seen. I've asked people before and I have received some very odd looks. Why not ask? The worse that can happen is Jesus says, "No." There's nothing wrong in asking. :)

I love villas too! That picture is awesome! I'll come and spend some weekends with you!

I forgot a few things on my log home. There will be double front wood doors, no locks of course, with oval frosted etched crystal glass. I love crystal. When you walk into the foyer, there are stairs on the right side, and a long vacant wall on the left. I want a full, head to toe picture of Jesus on the wall, with another portrait of Jesus smiling over the fireplace. When you walk into the foyer, on the right will be my music room with a door leading to around the back part of the house. Porches all around the home. And that's as far as I got with it. It's fun....I don't see any harm in it. You know how women love to decorate in their heads.

I can just imagine this Cuz..... your visions of 'home' are lovely... and the life size picture of Jesus on the wall?... well, I can even envision Jesus himself painting it! He'll be with us Sissy.... all of the time... maybe we'll get to bake Him bread?... Can you imagine Jesus dropping in to break bread with us?!?.... This brings tears to my eyes even thinking of this!

I can actually 'see' your Mansion... and I KNOW I'll be sitting in one of those lovely rooms with you.... someday quite soon, I pray.
