My wife has some health issues. This means that I am no stranger to hospital emergency rooms. Unfortunately, yesterday was "one of those days".

Off we went to the ER. After the initial booking in, we went to the waiting room. Since her condition was not life threatening, this inevitably means a wait of at least an hour or more. I have also learned that the nearest area you can smoke in is not only outside, but someplace that is probably planned to be the furthest distance from the waiting room. Given that the reason we are in the ER in the first place is a cause for some stress, the urge to have a cigarette is pretty strong.

Two wonderful things happened this time. First of all, when my wife was asked if she smoked, she was able to answer "No". We have been exclusively vaping for over a month now.

Some people agonize over this question as vapers. Not me. I no longer smoke cigarettes and neither does my wife. End of discussion.

The other wonderful thing was that we vaped pretty much at will. Yes, we "sneaked" a bit, not wanting to have any confrontations.

The clincher was when we were sent to the examination room for another hour or so. (Go to an ER on a Saturday night..). There we both relaxed with a nice chocolate for my wife and a lovely Red Cow for me.

Turned out the issue that brought us to the ER in the first place, while unfortunately quite painful for my wife, was a pretty straightforward deal and she is resting comfortably today.

So, we had a little bit of sunshine in a pretty gloomy circumstance.

Here's to vaping and my favorite vendor, Vapor 4 Life.

Glad your wife is doing better!

And I know what you mean about not being able to smoke in the most stressful conditions of all! It is torture! Even if you pop off to a rest room for a few calming draws, it is so much more tolerable! When my appendix ruptured, I was in the hospital on IV antibiotics for a week and a half - there is no way I could hobble downstairs and outside for a smoke pulling an IV cart lol. In a way, it is comforting to know that if I ever have to be hospitalized, I can stealth vape, or even just pop into the restroom and nobody will be the wiser.

I LOVE VAPING! In so many ways it is freedom for us ex smokers!

Wow ! well atleast she is doing better now! So did you guys just vape obviously and nobody noticed or did you "stealth" it and cover the led?

I have pretty big hands, so gripping the batt in my fist pretty much hid it. My wife had her Leaford Lanyard tucked down the front of her top, so she just had to tip her head forward to catch a vape.

Thanks from both my wife and I for the kind words.

The Leaford lanyard, perfect for that stealth boobie vape. Now I really have to order one.:w00t:

Hope all better now, and want to let you know, V4L will be there for you, and yours.

I spent 3 hours last week Vaping at Northwestern Hospital, and gave out dozens of cards. Best comment was when I went for my COPD test, I was told, "we should be giving these out to all of our patients" I wholeheartedly agree:D

They think they are pretty darn adorable too! It is often the only thing that saves them as they run around tearing the house up when they play.

I've spent a considerable amount of time in ERs, so I know about the stress of not being able to smoke. Happy that wasn't an issue for you and your wife, wfm.

How's she doing now? Hope everything is better today.

Well, she actually twisted her ankle badly, so she is still on crutches. While uncomfortable, she is healing nicely. Not our usual ER trip (she is prone to earth shattering migraines).

My biggest challenge is that I am now the official gopher for the Queen of Thanksgiving. I made her a deal that if she would just point, command and stay off of that ankle, I would do all the Thanksgiving prep and cooking.

I'm thinking a McDonald's Thanksgiving Feast in a Bag...

Well WMF, I too and glad all is well at your household. My youngest daughter is back home for awhile with fractured ankle (crutches et. al), so the wife and I are taking care of the baby again (23YO). I had to see a friend at the hostpital yesterday evening and it was so cool vaping in the elevator and RRs. I didn't want to freak anyone there so I was in stealth mode. I have glowed my LED in a few resterants however.
