Though I am fairly new to ECF and even newer to modding, I have been looking and searching the threads for quite some time. I have seen SS tube mods, Plastic Box mods,Wood box mods, SS box mods, even a clear poly tube mod. The one thing I haven't seen is a wooden tube mod.

Has this ever been tried? Has someone done it? Can't find anything in the threads about it.

Those are gorgeous but a little big. I am really hoping to see something hollowed out with an end cap. I have a peice of ebony that I turned and am going to hollow out. Problem I am having is with the end cap and bringing ground to the top. I can't seem to wrap my head around it. I was thinking about some threaded rings but I can't find any that would serve the purpose.

Rob, you can run a wire up inside along the battery, or adhesive copper foil even. Have a look at GummyBear's Another 18650 mod, done in acrylic, but would work nicely with wood too. And there is a threading solution there too. Also, you might want to hollow first and shape afterwards to stress the wood less.

Great advice asdaq, I was thinking the same thing about stressing the wood. I looked at gummy's clear acrylic mod, very very nicely done. Only problem is I am trying my best to keep the ends wood. In his design the end cap would be a metal faucet part.

Thanks guys keep em coming, I think I am getting something together in my head.

I am thinking maybe a magnet or 2. One with a large hole to accommodate a battery placed at the bottom of the tenon I am going to cut. And another at the bottom of the cap. That way not only have a friction hold but a magnetic one as well, and if I am correct magnets conduct electric.
