Kate this is a great pole. Please don't get me wrong. Now I see your point. I would say a parent of dependent kids...one...smoking anything is a bad influence on them, it may still make a statement inhaling gases are okay. I would never ever vap around my grown step daughters (27 and 29) or my step grandson.

Then there is the do you have enough time for the different inconveniences of e cigs. I would imagine the responsible parent nowdays has to run outside for a quick vap or burning cig. which is easier? I would say maybe the burning cig. only becuz you don't have to run inside for the juice if your cart is dry...or another battery if your ecig batt is dead...you can grab that random burning cig lite up and hurry up and smoke. but, that isn't my case. No kids at home. a hubby that hates smoking and any part of it. I can sit in my house cuzy in front of my tv and vap away without any worries. different worlds different situations...hence your pole...I get it.

We're up to five women with dependant kids and nineteen without, no single parents with dependants at all.

I'd forgotten about the concern a parent may have as a role model Kimmie, that's a good point. There is the possibility that they are too busy running a household too. I guess there could be many reasons why we have no single mothers of younger kids and only a few with partners. Maybe single mothers are on tighter budgets too with only one income and can't easily afford esmoking setup costs or internet access.

RikkusRide - "Gadget minded" - love it! Completely guilty ;)

Kate - I'd not read too much in to who is and who isn't on this forum. I'm glad there's such a varied bunch who contribute.

In an earlier pole I was a little surprised to find the age profile so young - but then didn't know what to make of it. Are young smokers quitting better than older ones? I doubt it.

The thing with these polls is that seem to pose more questions than they answer.

It is interesting to get a general idea of who's here but it does raise more questions. That's not such a bad thing really because all this is is a talking shop anyway ;)

I have a feeling that esmoking might be more attractive to younger people who aren't so set in their ways. On the other hand older folk tend to be a bit more careful with health issues so I don't know.

Here I am! Your first single mom with a dependant & happily geekless. This is why I disappear for months at a time and just as suddenly reappear. When things at home get busy the internet stops existing.

I almost picked other cause he is a teenager but until he can do the laundry properly and live on his own he's dependant I guess.

I am a 41 yr old single mom of an adult boy (who is now living in Italy)
...and my childless sister (aka "TexasTumbleweed") is 43 ...or 44... or 45...??? (uh oh... i forget her age... and her b-day is around the corner. I hope she doesn't see this post. LOL!)

Either my sister and i are very immature (which i must admit, we are. teeheee!!) or i'd guess age shouldn't be too much of a factor for interest in e-ciggies.

We older smokers who are set in our ways: our ways have been turned upside down by all the smoking bans, the ever-increasing costs for ciggies, and the change in societal attitudes against smokers. So, i think we are forced to adapt to change. Until i came across e-ciggies, my only options were to either quit smoking or remain a closet smoker. For those of us who do not want to give up smoking or have a hard time quitting: what better solution is there than e-ciggies? The moment i came across these gizmos, i felt as if my life had finally been restored and i had found the Holy Grail ~ the most perfect smoking solution! :D

E-ciggies allow me to continue engaging in my habits as closely as possible to the "real thing" -plus benefits! I can finally go to the movies & out to dinner again, i'm no longer offensive to people around me, no more messy ashes and cigarette butts - and the list goes on.

What i really enjoy also is the fact that i'm free from the "obligation" i used to feel once i lit a ciggie; knowing i had only so many drags left before the ciggie was done, there's was certain pressure of needing to get as much out of my ciggie before it was burnt down.

It's so nice to pick up my e-ciggie, take a few drags, set it down, and pick it back up again when i feel like a few more drags again, etc. (OR: just puff away as long as i like ). No worries of precisely how many drags i've got left on it -so long as i'm stocked on carts & juice. It's fantastic!!

Surprisingly: I do not miss my old ciggies at all. I haven't smoked one -or even felt a temptation to- since the moment i received my first e-ciggie (exactly one week ago). That's saying quite a bit for someone who has always been a very compulsive smoker!

(Does this officially make me a non-smoker now?)

Aloha!

We're all too busy keeping the world running to bother with message boards and polls Kate. The women e-cig users are currently cooking dinner, washing clothes, vacuuming floors, wiping arses, wiping noses, loading dishwashers, managing finances, bathing children, grocery shopping, making beds, chaperoning field trips, chauffering everyone everywhere, sweeping, mopping, and a plethora of other things. All while vaping away to keep their sanity of course!

I've been watching this thread for the past few days just quietly observing. Oddly enough, the comments I made that Kate is referring to were made as more of a joke than anything. I'm a married mom of 2 girls with a dog and cat and I work from home. Working from home does give me a bit of leeway in the internet dept as I am in front of the comp most of the day every day and the fact that I am now and always will be a geek also adds to my participation in the forum. It's interesting to see that, although I was joking, it really seems to be true to a certain extent.

My husband and I have 6 kids, his and mine, but they're OLD, so can't count them. And Geek! By the way, his oldest daughter just turned into "Gramma" ~ this is our new GREAT-grandson! The first. This is interesting, our kids start being grandparents, just no way to completely absorb this into my Psyche yet!
