I'm stunned over an incident that occurred less than 10 minutes ago ... God 180 and 180 S owners take this as a serious future warning . My unit was on a fairly light coffee table, the table is sitting on a carpet which make this incident all the more remarkable.

My new and young cat is remarkably quick and likes to push against the table leg while tussleing with a toy. She suddenly pushed against the table knocking the unit to the floor ... this I now see is where the units screw on battery compartment can be a real danger .... the triple 18650's are all side by side and fairly tight in their individual slots but they do rest against each other. I havn't the slightest idea how it's possible for any of the batteries to possibly touch ends but the unit hit the floor and looked exactly like a swat team's tear gas or smoke cannister going off and this was smoke not vapor.

I could hardly hold the case to get the screws out to access the batteries and lightly burned my right palm.
As soon as the door broke free I shook the case to get the batteries to drop out and kicked them off of the rug and onto the linoleum where they sizzled and leaked out like bacon strips .... I grabbed a rag then and through all of them into a bowl of water which ended the drama pretty quickly.

The battery case contacts were pitch black, all 6 of them, the entire inner case was coated in battery oil or acid or whatever you want to call it ... the God itself stayed hot for at least 10 minutes.

Oddly, after dremyl cleaning the contacts and wiping out the compartment, I nervously put in 3 new 18650's but I used a piece of ribbon so I could shoot them out of the unit instantly .. amazingly the unit and all settings worked ! (cannot be happier about that)

But really beware a heavy jarring impact with a God because sitting here playing with these 3 new 18650's it seems totally impossible to make any of them touch ends in any possible effort, yet that
is my only opinion how all contacts could be heat blackened and all 3 batteries could have ruptured.

it's possible for the batteries to get a problem if the battery wrappers are damaged so that the negative metal casings are exposed and come into contact with each other.

Board might have shorted??

I thought of that so the first thing I did is delibertly hold the fire button down on the fresh batteries to see if the 10 second overtime safety still worked and it does ... plus it was darn near smoking the second it hit the floor so I'm stumped ...

Ugh. efest... I have a pair of the 26650, but they are in a 2x26650 parallel mod. It doubles the ampacity. That's the only way I feel same using them. That mod should really have some HB6's or vtc4's in it. And never charge them with the onbard charger. I have heard of bayyeries venting in the godmod because the charger can't evenly charge all 3 and overcharges one or 2.

I never use the internal charger, I use only my Intellicharger I-4 and have 15 18650's which I use at random so no 3 are ever the same batteries in a setup.

Probably doesn't affect what happened to you, but are you aware that that specific battery is only 20 amps CDR, and not the advertised 35 amps? Efest has a notorious history of over-rating their battery specs.

Purple Efest Batteries Not As Advertised
I wasn't aware but it's low output if the claim was true would surely reveal its weakness at the times I've been in super mode or even at just 100 watts I would think ... Then again I also trusted Nixon ! lol ...
