Over the weekend I DVR'd two movies from my high school days one held up rather well and the other, not so much

The Breakfast Club(1985)- Holds up very well. Themes presented are still relevant in today's world. Can be enjoyed on many different levels. Great performances, especially Judd Nelson and Paul Gleason(with a great small part by John Kapelos--see quote). Perhaps John Hughes' best work

Great quote--“You guys think I am just some untouchable peasant? Peon? Huh? Maybe so, but following a broom around after crapheads like you for the past eight years I’ve learned a couple of things. . . I look through your letters. I look through your lockers. I listen to your conversations, you don’t know that, but I do. . . I am the eyes and ears of this institution my friends. By the way, that clock is twenty minutes fast!”---Carl the janitor

Porky's(1982)- I was 14 when this movie came out. Exactly the target audience that they were shooting for. Every teenage boy wanted to see this movie at least a dozen times. The famous "shower scene", the sex, the nudity, it had it all...........Until I watched it again this weekend, and now I can only say "what was I thinking?". Poor acting, predicable dialogue, and with the exception of Kim Cattrall as the cheer leading coach no one associated with this movie has any kind of career (except for the sequels, of course). I'm almost ashamed to admit that I actually watched this.............

For me that was practically all action movies, especially "Bad Boys," "Romeo Must Die," and even Jackie Chan's movies, with their terrible dubbing and bad acting.
It's heartbreaking to watch a movie you thought was amazing as a kid just to realize it truly blows. Some things are better left to memory.

Thats the beauty of memories. Your youth and the times all fill a part of it. I notice how small everything looks now compared to how it looked when I was young. But we all grow alittle older each day.
