Hey everyone! First off, I wanted to say thank you for welcoming me into your community!

Normally, this is the part of a person's first post where they talk about themselves and why they're here. Well, I would do that, but I'm actually not here for myself. I'm an on-and-off smoker, and since I'm 19, the occasional cigarette I do have doesn't bother my conceptions about my own health. vaping looks awesome, but for me, it'd probably end up getting me hooked on nicotine, rather than mitigating cigarette damage.

However, I have a friend who is at least a pack a day smoker (two packs if he has the money for it). He's been smoking like this for the past 4 or 5 years, and to be fair, he's completely aware of everything that he should be, he just chooses to smoke because he enjoys it.

We recently had a discussion about e-cigarettes, and since he unfortunately lives in Canada (I only go to university there), we had heard about the no-nicotine ban for the liquids (thanks Health Canada). Our conversation ended abruptly once that fact came to light, but I had a sneaking suspicion that he would be open to the idea were he able to use a nicotine containing liquid.

Anyway, the reason why I'm here is because this friend's birthday is in a few months, and I would love to get this for him as an option, even if he were to never use it. Why? At the very least, I feel like putting him in a position where his mind will be actively considering it, because, well... he'll have his own unit and kit set up and sitting somewhere in his apartment.

From what I've heard from being a guest on this site, and my own research, I don't think I could buy it here in the US and bring both the unit and the nicotine liquids on a plane. However, I may be wrong. If that would work, and someone can confirm that, I'll probably go that route. If not, I've started learning of places in Canada that can sell the liquids, and I was wondering if someone could PM that info, or help me find it on my own (I can't seem to post anywhere on this site besides this section).

Also, if anyone could recommend either a specific model, or a complete kit, that I could either order in Canada, or one that I could successfully order here and bring with me on a plane, I would really appreciate it. I'm new to the field, and while I've read a lot and understand a lot so far, I'm not as well versed in nicotine based vaporization as with other kinds (where I get a good amount of my info from) ;)

Welcome to ECF and good job on reaching out for your friend. I am familiar with some of the Health Canada regulations, but far from an expert. You might try checking around in the Canada Suppliers forum and see what you can come up with.

Canada Suppliers

There are vendors in Canada that you should be alright with and have no issues other then, maybe, forms of payment. Good luck in your search and if you need any more assistance, feel free to ask! Once you have 5 posts and wait about an hour, you will be able to post elsewhere (such as the Canada suppliers threads) and maybe get more answers.

Hi dvoges18, weklcome to ECF and kudos to you for what you're doing. After 5 posts wait 1 hour and request a Cdn vendors list here:
http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...w-nic-supplier-list-via-pm-only-part-2-a.html
The most popular, reasonably priced Cdn vendor with quality products is www.CANVAPE.com
He's an ECF listed vendor and to stay listed here must follow a code of business ethics. Here's his ECF Forum. Page 2 cuz page 1 was too long- 500 pages :D

I would recommend the Smoktech E-Power 14650 510 Kit because it's a true 3.7 volt PV and the batteries are seperate from the unit. Normal replacement batts cost $15-$20. E-Power batts cost aporox $5. Also the manual PV is better because:
less chance of damage from juice
automatics sometimes fire due to loud noises.
best of all the manual puts the vaper in complete control of the vaping experience- if a stronger hit is required just hold the button down longer.
Good Luck.

Hey guys! Just to give everyone a quick update, I managed to squeeze electronic cigarettes into a conversation with my friend last night. He told me that he has always been interested in trying one, yet has never had the opportunity to do so. I didn't think he was going to be that open to it, especially since I always thought he enjoyed the smoke factor beyond the nicotine, but that's awesome.

Now all I have to do is get three more posts... :2cool:
