Hi guys I'm just a noob but no matter what I did my tank always leaked, on the bottom of the coil you pull the little button thing out (the end of the coils this is for the 0.5 and 1.2 there is sometimes a little bit of metal sticking out if you chop it down a little pop the little bit back on and put the little I ring over it this can stop it from leaking.

I have done something else that stopped it from leaking, the big o ring that goes the top of the tank, I took the spare one I got in my sub tank mini box and put it on the bottom and tightened it, and I can say I have had no leaks, may look a little untidy to a few but works here is a picture. I'm not trying to sound like I know what I'm doing but could help a few noobs like myself aha

hrm - i have to wonder if that is a defective tank - i own 5 of the subtank minis and have not had any major leaking issues with any of them...

the only item of concern there is when you say you took the piece out of the bottom of the coil (?) and chopped it down - are you talking about an actually small tail of coil wire protruding from the side, between the grommet (rubber gasket piece) and the pin (metal piece that goes in the gasket to secure it and coil legs) or chopping the pin?

one of the major causes of leaks with tanks like this is generally overtightening the coil head down and deforming the silicone o-ring that is seated beneath it - coils should be firm - finger tight, not cranked down (lots of times folks figure if it is leaking, tightening it more will fix it... not always the case)

I don't own that tank but I have leaking issues with my goblin mini and what I found to be my issues were 1. building correctly; my coils would short because they would touch the inner cylinder that covers the coils and then the tank would eventually flood although it did fire but it wasn't a uniform fire one half would fire the rest wouldn't and this is a duel coil build. the other coil wouldn't fire at all. 2. switching to rayon versus Japanese cotton. it just wicks better and when I used Japanese cotton it would still leak from the bottom air flows if left unvaped for a few hours only. I've built it quite a few times and it would leak every single time. 3. leaving a bit of air in the tank when vaping; when I completely filled it, it would leak and often heavily. 4. not vaping at a high enough wattage.

these are just some issues that I've seen that caused my tank to leak but primarily I think the biggest issue I see is bottom air flow. it builds up a LOT of condensation and eventually I have to unscrew it off wipe it down and screw it back on. so right now I think the only leaking is due to condensation building up other then that it is fine. I have a mutation xs which has bottom air flow same issue. vapes fine but after a while the condensation builds up and collects and I need to wipe it off

the wire your cutting is just the leads from the coil. the seal is above that point so that part will not affect leaking. but if it make you feel better, then trim away. The best thig you can do to stop leaks is to not tighten everything down to a millimeter of its life. you want to use the german measurement of "GutenTite", not teh american measurement of "GAAAHHHH! Cant tighten any more! Hand me PLIERS!!" if you over tighten the Orings can get deformed and squeezed out causing a leak.

I can honestly say that none of my tanks leak. I have never had a tank drain onto my mod.
