Saw my State Rep at a St Patrick's function. Took the opportunity to give a demo of my eGo c-4.
He asked that I put together supporting material for his reference.
2 beach towns have banned analogs from Beach & Boardwalk. I wanted him to watch out for vapor users being included in those bans.
So far vapor users have not been challenged but it is early in the season.

Arty

That's awesome Arty! Yes I've seen the bans on smoking at Rehoboth beach.

Brian McHale, Democrat, District 46

If anyone wants to thank him for being *responsive* his email is here:
Brian K. McHale, Maryland State Delegate

now if only we could get some the ecig vendors to return phone calls and/or emails.:glare:

Thanks so much for posting his info racehorse!!

Congrats - now it is time to start working the proposed 95% tax on non-tobacco related products - ecigs and eliquid.

Yes! This is next on my list. Let's do it people!

When there was a Maryland Call to Action I e-mailed ALL of my representatives to let them know how I felt about including electronic cigarette vapor in the MD Clean Indoor Act, therefor banning vaping where smoking is banned (which will hit the BEACH soon - an outdoor space??). This was bill HB 1291. The only representative to respond to me initially was Brian McHale, who contacted me again today to let me know the bill is dead and will not go to the floor. Woo hoo! Although my contacting him probably had nothing to do with it, I just feel a small sense of victory :) Please keep up on your states bills and contact your representatives people! :) Thanks for listening.

Yep I got an email from him and only him yesterday as well:)

Wow!

I live in Md, and work in the "belly of the beast", Montgomery County. This is the same county that pushed switching to plastic grocery bags instead of paper ones because we were killing too many trees (which grow back, BTW). Then, they turned around and mandated a $.05 per plastic bag fee at retail stores. Its crazy. If you go to any store, all you see are people in the parking lot putting cart loads of the stuff that they bought in their cars without bags. Now, all of the stores are switching back to the brown paper bags. Its like watching a cat chase its tail.

I want to go talk to that representative that said "vaping is like the wild west" and give her a piece of my mind. I need to let her know that without the "wild west", our country would never have gotten to be the great country that it used to be.

We need more Duke. Yeah, I said it. John Wayne. We've been letting the lily livered run the show for way too long. I want people who embrace the wild west to run our country. At least they made sense when they spoke.

Rant mode off. I want to give a big shout out to Bill Godshell and the rest of the folks that came to our aid in our time of need. The Duke would be proud! THANK YOU!!!!

I hear Greg Conley's testimony was effective. Lots of behind the scenes organizing work, too. It was very much a team effort.

I believe the "Wild west" phrase came from Mitch Zeller of the FDA, and dates back to 2010 or thereabouts. It's coded ANTZ language - i.e. if something isn't regulated, it must be dangerous (rather like the vegatables we pick from our gardens). Of course tobacco cigarettes are regulated - go figure.

Any time you hear a politician use the phase "wild west" or "[re-]glamorize/normalize smoking," or "youth-rated movies" - you can safely bet that they've spent some time with rep.s from BP and/or ANTZ orgs (to the extent that there's a difference). Their lobbyists spend a lot of time and quite a few tax dollars prepping the politicians on their talking points.

Of course they have a perfect right to engage in messaging and develop talking points - that's a political art form which is as old as the Pyramids.

But when they illegally use Americans' tax dollars in a misguided (at best) quest that harms public health, then I see red.

No... It was a different dolt.

From http://www.wbal.com/article/105874/3/lawmaker-seeks-to-restrict-e-cigarettes

--- Montgomery County Delegate Aruna Miller, who said the devices which allow smokers to inhale water vapor and other chemicals are unregulated by the FDA and pose the same second hand health risks that tobacco spoke provides.

“It’s the wild west out there,” Miller told the committee in describing the ingredients in these devices. She acknowledged there are medical studies which point to the danger of these products. Other supporters of the bill acknowledged at the hearing that there is conflicting research which shows the devices don’t pose a great health risk.---

Once one of these nut jobs comes up with a catch phrase, they all start to parrot it like true lemmings.
