Video on Youtube I forgot I posted. Very lightly torched A7. The more you torch the darker the resulting color. It was a very rainy day with a short break in rain. The purple color on cap is not nearly as purple and dark as shows in video. My goal is to get consistent "brass" look whole rba. Torching is really easy. That's how they get the "black" SS.

Alright guys, I went over to Keith's and picked up an A7 Mini.

Quick review:

Looks/Build:
4/5

It's built well, has a good weight to it, and putting in a coil isn't too tough. It is a bit tall though, but it fits on my mini fine.

Vapor Production:
5/5
With a good coil, vapor is abundant and plenty.

Throat hit:
3/5
It really isn't there, even though my coil is 1ohm. It's kinda airy, it just doesn't "shoot out at you" like a regular atty.

Flavor:
2/5
Where is it? I'm getting plumes of vapor, but the flavor is just damn muted. It's not there. I'm using a cotton wick and 32awg kanthal wire...

Wicking:
3/5
Well, it wicks, but I get dry hits often. My coil isn't tight either, wicks are fluffed and soaked, no hot spots. This is better suited for dripping IMO.

Issues:
Aside from above, my center post is actually not that wobbly. No shorts yet on any of my PV's, stays put in the reo with no issues either. I'm hoping it stays that way.

Eh...what am I doing wrong? I really WANT to like this atty more than a Cisco 510 AERO or a 357, but it just isn't satisfying... Now that I think of it, not a single rba ever really satisfied me. Idk...

I could use some tips from other reonauts lol.

Do most of you who have tried this agree? I find it depressing.

Nope. Well, kind of. These results are definitely possible, of course. But wicking, flavor, and throat hit can all be adjusted depending on your coil and wick setup. I don't have any of those issues, with exception of muted flavor (I can change that, but in my setup it would reduce the capacity of the RBA and I don't want to do that).

My A7 works just fine, but YMMV.

I dont think it is fair to rate a rebuildable on performance, as that is completely dependant on the users ability to make the "perfect" setup.

I agree that the TH, vapor, and flavor are almost totally dependent on user and materials used for coil/wick.

Two main things I adjust on some of the RBAs is how much air goes over the coil and the ohm of coil. ERA and Hornet, with air intake from hole in cap is perfect amount of air for my preference (while a lot of people actually open the hole a bit).

A7 I have to put a toothpick point into one of the air intake holes on threaded fitting to reduce the airiness. (Mini A7 has a tighter draw so haven't needed to do that to it.)

REOmizer is way too airy for me. I had to seal the hole in cap and then drill out smaller hole.

Too much air can affect TH.

One thing to consider, also, is the design of the A7s and Surface allow a lot of juice to be in well and keep the coil more saturated.

ohms............. I'm finding that on some of the RBAs I need to reduce the ohm of coil down 0.2 to 0.5 ohms from what I normally like with premade attys and cartos.

I'm still waiting on my Surfaces but Robert, REO, says that the A7 is a knock-off of the Surface.

{edit} The 32 Kanthal doesn't do it for me no matter the RBA. 30 Kanthal does.

I'm just trying to understand how the A7 is a knockoff of the Surface, if the A7 is already on their second version and the Surface is still on preorder

not trying to stir up anything... i just dont see how that statement is valid...

I'm just repeating what Robert REO said. He made comment that China is getting the clones out before the modders get enough made to get onto market. The Surface prototype has been out for a while. Michael just got his small production finalized a few weeks ago.

plus they dont look anything alike :)

From what I can see of the Surface pictures it is almost identical to the A7 Mini; at least the innards. Hopefully I'll know by afternoon tomorrow, if they have been delivered in town. BTW... I'll take the mailing envelope to get yours off to you.

I'll take screw in base insert out of Surface and get a pic of it along side the innards of A7 Mini. (Innards of both and A7 screw out of base.)

The one thing I know for sure, and would bet almost my life on it............. I can reach Michael, vape4me, creator of Surface for any little tiny parts I might need. For the Hornet and ERA, even though Budz is technically, a "modder" getting info and parts is worse than pulling teeth. You can order some parts from Indyvapor but not the post insulators, center positive posts, etc.

I'm not knocking the A7...... And they are cheap enough to buy the whole thing if something breaks, especially if purchased at co-op prices. I love my A7 Mini and, to a lesser degree, my A7.

And althoug we should be supporting our modders, a lot of people just cannot afford the straight from modder prices.
