I really like the concept of the REO. I think they are a great design and I am impressed with the REO owners surprising strong loyalty to the brand.

I have been checking the REO WEB site for a little while looking for a vv for sale. I did not understand why they were never available. Browsing through the REO forum I chanced upon the post where Rob mentions that he will not make any more vv.

That kind of suck for me. What are the reasons ? I am sure they are valid. I would like to know as I am thinking of checking to buy a used one..... if one become available.

Yep - the kick will work (you'll need to scrape whatever finish the unit has off where the kick's grounds need to connect). A grand will fit a 18490/500 with the kick installed.

That said, you can dial the vape up and down by building different coils for it. Old school, I know, but quite easy with a good atty like the RM2. I set a grand up with a kick when I first started out and quickly moved away from it when I got the build variables worked out to my liking. Never even contemplated using the kick ever since.

No, and mine works as well as ever, but they are no longer made nor supported is all.

The chip itself - i want to say is a buzzpro, but i am a bit rusty to be sure, since i just use a mechanical grand most of the time. Naturally i hope they will become collector's items and i can retire. But i doubt it.

I got this one as part of a trade a few weeks back. It works great and has turned me into a Reo fan.

They vape just as well as any Reo, but a lot of women particularly find them too big for their hands, but enough about me.

I was going to say - no it's not, but you actually made me realize I kind of shift it up in my hand to sqonk and then drop it back down to fire it. And I don't have to do that with the Grand.

But it's still perfect and I love it.

OP- I got mine off the classies, I've only had it a little less than 2 months, dunno how long it was used before that. But it's definitely working perfectly.

Thank you all for you answers and clarifications. I appreciate your help in my quest for the perfect vape ! I understand this will only be attained momentarely until something ''better'' is offered on the fast evolving e-cig world.

Well, that's why the Reo fans are so loyal and happy with their mods - "better" doesn't exist after you own a Reo, "better" is gone, you don't have to search and spend unnecessary money anymore :) The Search is finally over...

I'm going to get in on the "better" thing too...

I just spent a little over 2 years with a VV REO Woodville as my primary PV. It has been with me all day every day for 2 years. The only time I've use something else was when I knew I was going to be near water or otherwise expected to get wet. I did just buy another REO, but that was out of desire, not necessity. Once I saw the milled out SL REOs, I knew it was just a matter of time before I'd get one...

For the entire 2+ years I carried my VVW every day, I fully expected something "better" to come along. And, I do have a definition of "better" in my head that may or may not be similar to what someone else might consider "better"... Well, it never came. It doesn't exist. I haven't even read any of the serious modders like breaktru or mamu thinking of putting out what I would call "better". It isn't coming. I am absolutely positive "better" can be done because it was done once... and was immediately recalled after release, because the part that made it "better" didn't end up working right. I'm also absolutely positive that "better" is still at least another 2 years away... if it ever happens.

There are "different" devices on the market with "different" features, and yes, some of those are excellent. The fact is, though, I do not see a single device on the market right now with similar features that is "better" than a VV REO. It just doesn't exist.

It is not without its limitations. To be specific: The notcigs chip can't give you more than 15 watts. Also, the notcigs chip is designed to see anything 1.0 ohm or lower as a short and shut the mod down. Real world, those number can and do vary a bit. I found it quite easy to stay within the boundaries of those limitations and be completely satisfied.

That's not to say I don't think it's entirely possible my new SL Grand might not become my primary PV. But, that's because of all the control I have over how my RM2 attys behave on it. If I were still using comercial attys, the SL Grand would just replace my 14500 mini when I'm going to be around water... but I have a whole bunch of control over the atty and can really make it run. I could see it becoming my primary PV. I've discovered I can wrap a nice tight 1.2 ohm microcoil and can get excellent/satisfactory performance through the entire 6 ml capacity with one 2000 mah AW IMR batt if I place the coil properly. So, just like my VVW, I don't have to carry any extra stuff to enjoy my vape all day. That's the important thing to me and exactly what makes the VV REO the best. I take one vaping item with me and no supplies or extra batts or bottles of juice or.... anything. With the RM2 on my REO SL, I can do the same thing. Just take my REO and be confident that it will work all day no matter what and I won't have to mess with it.

I though like that back in November of 2010 when I got my first REO ...... Nothing better has come along yet !!
I still buy and try other things just to make sure.

Better attys have come along which only enhanced the REO experience ....... but the REO itself will never be topped. It has it all .... Great vape - super durable - easily repaired on the off chance you need to.

6ml of leakproof juice on board ...... bottles that don't ever break ... leak .... or crack.

Better yet will instantly gain hundreds of friend that will go out of their way to help you .... not just with vaping, with anything you might need. I've been around a long time and most groups, clubs, etc always have a few ..... that are just there to cause trouble. I've yet to pick them out of the REO crowd. We have few wise azz's but they are good folks that would drop what they are doing to give you a hand if you ask.

And best of all we have Rob (Mod Master) that will gladly chat away with you on his phone .... which he actually answers !!
Just don't chat with him too long ......

He has a lot of work to do :D

I started with a kicked grand also.

I'm going out on a limb here but I have to say it...

regulated vaping is highly over-rated.

I believe I'm qualified to say that as an owner/user of two provaris the year before I purchased my first reo grand. I was all hung up on the idea of voltage dropping off as I vape, etc. I wanted to try a bottom feeder but that bugaboo was driving me nuts. The reo vv looked too tall ( at least in pics), the grand looked awesomely compact. So I bought a grand and ran it kicked with a 18490. That lasted about two weeks because I realized I could get just a good a vape and much longer battery life just wrapping a 1ohm coil and running the 18650 aw.

Since Rob came out with the upgraded contacts, along with higher mah batteries like the sony vtc5 or the Samsung 25r, things have gotten even better. I wrap the 1 ohm coil and begin vaping at 4v (.18vd) or 16 watts pulling 4 amps. That's already out of provari territory which has a 3.5 amp and 15 watt limit. Usually when I change the batt the next morning, after working all night for 12 hrs,
it's still reading 3.8-3.9ish. That's after 15hrs of vaping and just changing batts out once a day before work. So right before battery change, I'm still vaping at almost 14 watts and pulling 3.72amps (still above provari specs).

And the greatest part of all, it's a wonderful, flavorful, densely saturated, moist vape.

I recently picked up one of the new IPV2 box mods with the sx330 chip. It's a pretty nice mod, a bit taller than a reo grand and the darn thing will go up to 50 watts. But it's a major fail in my eyes, cause it doesn't bottom feed. I stuck a kayfun nano on it and it vapes ok but in no way does it hold a candle to a grand with a cyclone or rm2. Btw, I feel sorry for all these blokes building on these finicky kayfuns when they could just throw a short wick in a rm2 and be done. It was a mere 2 days before my grand was right back in my fist.
yeah, yeah... the grass is always greener, I know.:D

Anyway, all this babbling is just the long way of me saying, I think you'd be quite satisfied with a grand if you throw a bottom-fed rba on it and build to your own taste.

cheers
