About to buy my first tube mod. What do you think?

I was thinking about buying a Cisco Helix, mainly because the battery life with the 26650 is outstanding, but low and behold they are sold out.I did find a CIsco Helix on Ebay for 120.00 with 2 26650 batteries which seems like a pretty good deal. Seller is well rated. What do you guys think about the Helix and the 120.00 price tag including 2 26650 batteries?

How available is that charger? I looked on eliquidplanet's site and I saw the batteries and they note that they need a special charger - but none of their chargers seem to be for that battery. Maybe I missed something?

What condition is the device in? Of course the advantage is that the eBay seller has it available when new ones are out of stock, but it's $120 in both cases - the difference being availability and a couple of under-$7 batteries.

If it's in good shape and includes a charger, I'd probably be tempted. (If I was you that is - not meaning I am looking to scoop it). But I know how it is. I had a long wait on my ProVari, then got an email saying there would be a longer wait since one of their suppliers had gotten bogged down. So yeah - I feel your pain.

I was thinking about a provari also, but I couldn't get past not being able to use 1.5 ohm dual coil cartos at 5-6v. I have about 50 of them right now. My box mod is falling apart though, so it's time to get another mod. I think I'll sleep on it and either pull the trigger or not.

The UltraFire charger on Eliquid Planet is the one used for 26650 batteries (I had to send them an email to figure that out). It fits the width of the batteries otherwise 26650's would work in any charger that can charge IMR's I believe. WF-188 is the model number of the charger. Pretty expensive charger though. 25 bucks. I guess it's a good thing that it can charge almost any battery I might get in the future.

I looked around for the batteries and couldn't find any under 14.00 each

I looked again on the batteries - I looked on my phone before, I must have touched the wrong spot on the screen because the one I was looking at was a different one.

I can't imagine a 1.5 ohm at that kind of voltage. Actually would have guessed it would pop them. Everything I tried in LR's at even 4.2 volts just had no flavor and was harsh and nasty. But, there a a bajillion different juices out there. Not likely that we use the same thing.

The charger I got when I bought my ProVari was like $49 or something, so $25 isn't that bad.

Are you set on a tube? I think a Darwin can throw more at an LR due to different circuitry, but I don't own one so I can't be sure. You might want to look at that.

Then get a Darwin. Dual coil carto's work great on a Darwin. Plus you will get about 13 hours on a charge with DCC's and 21+ hours on a charge with everything else. And of course it doubles a pass-through and you don't have to click through menu's to accomplish any function.

Well if you go much above 4 volts those cartos will probably either burn out or not live long. Effectively they are LR (they meter out at 1.5 or 1.6 ohms), and LR is for 4v or less, so you can get the same effect as SR at 5v.

If you use any 18650 mod such as a Silver Bullet with an AW IMR (red) battery it will deliver 4 volts, with full power (very little voltage drop / power drop), and produce huge clouds of rich, thick creamy vapor. Even with a light flavor e-liquid a 2-second drag is plenty. Using something like a coffee or strong tobacco liquid you have got too much for many people, a 1-second drag like a tobacco cig is enough. Just with a light flavor liquid will make an e-cig virgin who smokes 2PAD of strong cigs cough and choke on their first try.

18650 cells are probably the way to go right now as 26500 or 26650 cells and gear are too hard to find. Something with a solid rep like the SB is a good bet. This set-up is more powerful than a 3.7v mod using 14500 cells as they can't really handle the load, and you get a voltage drop. Even a 0.2 volt difference is noticeable at these kinds of voltages.

Another note on the SB is that besides taking 18650 you have allot of voltage options. You can use IMR for 4volts, standard LiIon for 3.7. Also you can get a 5volt battery or use stacked batteries to get 6 volts. While VV mods are cool and I really want one, I love the flexibility of battery options. Also, they are beasts. Extremely well made devices with awesome service.

1.5 ohms at 6 volts is 24 watts of power I guess I just don't get why you would want to vape at 24 watts is there something about dual coils that I don't understand?

I heard somewhere I think it was vp live that Cisco's not making anymore Helixs

The total amount of current flowing through the circuit would be 24A, but it is split through the two resistances of 3.2 ohms each. Each coil would produce 1/2 the wattage from it's portion of the circuit, so you'd have 12 watts heat produced by each 3.2 ohm coil. I'm with you in that it sounds like a throat killer, but I don't think that it would be the same, vapewise, as a single coil producing 24 watts. It should be similar to a Y connector where you could vape two 3.2 ohm cartos at the same time. Twice the vapor at the same heat. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm thinking that it would just more thoroughly atomize the liquid with a little more heat than one coil.

I vape 1.5 twin coils all day long at 6 volts. I have never had a coil pop running 6 volts. Provari will not run a 1.5 twin coil. You need to use one of the mods out there that do not have protection build in them that see's the twin coils as a short

A Provari will run a 1.5 dual coil, but only up to around 4 volts. I still have a bunch of duals, sitting in a drawer doing nothing; because I much prefer using a Provari with 2.8 ohm CE2s, to another mod with dual coils.

Well it seems like that Helix got snatched up pretty quickly by someone else. I ended up ordering a Megalodon from Electronicstix. picked up 2 IMR 18650, 4 IMR 18350's, and I already have tons of 123a's and 16340's. I also picked up 4 5v batteries. I believe I will be able to run 3.7-4v, 5v, 6v, and 7.4v. not counting what ever voltage loss I get at the atty. Seems like a good mod and with the 10% discount code it was a pretty good deal. It will be nice to have the option of a small mod with 18350's and a LR306. Will most likely pick up an empire mod when they get back in stock also, depending on how much I like this mod.
