Most sites will state if they are Joyetech. If they're not Joyetech, chances are it's not a genuine eGo, but a clone. Some good clones are the Riva and KGO.
The previous poster mentioned the eGo C Twist batteries. That's the way to go, as they are variable voltage. Of course, besides the batteries, you'll need a charger, some cartomizers, and liquid for the cartos. Get two batteries.

If you're coming from an cig style ecig - same diameter and length as a cig - then you might want to start with a 650mAh batt kit - I'd suggest cignot because I know they're Joyetech. Heaven gifts is also Joye as well as stated models at liberty flights. The 1000mAh Twist is a bit long 121mm (almost 5 inches) vs. 75mm on regular 650 eGo-c, a little under 3 inches. But it is something you might consider if you like the eGo system. There are also 650 Twists - a little less than 4 inches but of course the higher the mAh the longer in between charges... so ... it depends on your vaping habits..... whether you have access to charging or not....
