Take a look, Over $200 in Prizes, easy to do!

Hi there,

It's been a while since we've had a contest - so here we go!

This is going to be a photography contest of sorts... not for how well you can use a camera or Photoshop, but for how well the subject matter is represented.

Anyone with a camera (even cell phones) can enter. You will post your image here in this thread.

Rules:

  • Only one entry per person
  • No nudity! (except vape gear...)

Subject Assignment: A photo which contains:

  1. vaping - vapor itself, a PV; use your imagination, doesn't have to contain a person (remember, any recognizable person in a photo must give written permission to display the photo publically)
  2. Patriotism - a commonly recognized indicator of patriotism: flag, military, political, independance day, you get the idea...

If you're from outside the USA - that's great! Show your love of your country! Show us what patriotism means to you.

The contest will run for about three weeks (to the end of July) to give everyone the opportunity to come up with an idea, get ready, and possibly wait for good weather to shoot it!

At the end of the submission period, I will choose 10 entries to be in the final judging, which will be done by you - the ECF community. I'll make a poll for voting, and we'll find our winners that way.

Now to the good stuff... the prizes!

Thanks to everyone here, I had a great 2012. I've made many new friends, and had the pleasure to make many display stands. So...

  • First prize will be $100 credit towards anything I make.
  • Second prize will be $60 credit towards anything I make.
  • Third prize will be $40 credit towards anything I make.
  • The remaining seven finalist will receive a one time use "coupon" good for 30% off anything I make.

Good luck - and... click!

Happy Birthday America!

Thought I'd give a couple examples of what I'm looking for (and not looking for ;) )

OK, this photo definitely meets the requirements of depicting both vaping and something patriotic:

Yep, it's all there... but lacks creativity. Everything was placed deliberately - and it shows.

Another example with the exact same elements, just different... (pardon the old decrepit model, he works cheap...)

This looks more sublime to me. You can count the elements, but it lacks a deliberate look. To me, this also says how great of a country we live in - yours truly can participate in places like ECF, and even make a few bucks providing the community with something I truly love to do. America - I love you

So, have a great 4th, be safe, and let those imaginations run loose!

Sorry can't do really good pics but will enter with my phone camera.

May we always have the freedom so many have fought and died for.
May we always have the right to chose how we LIVE.
May we always have the power to chose a longer life thru vaping and
May we always have the ability to fight for our own way of life.
Be strong and vape on.
Let Freedom ring!!!!!!!!!!!!.jpg

God Bless America

Yup, that's it. We don't need to be professional photographers to win.

Think of it as a contest rewarding more the idea and thought of the photo, rather than the technical expertise with which the camera was used. The photo serves to demonstrate the idea and thought that went into it. A good idea to add some text as Silverdove has done above. Explain your photo if you think it needs it.

This still going on?

Yes! It is. Nice Eagle - thanks for entering.

The contest is open to submissions until Tuesday, July 23, 2013 at 11:59:59pm, Pacific time.

This is what happened when I tried to take a photo during the Fireworks Show last night... LMAO!!

So I guess it's back to the drawing board... ;)

Not so fast there Babalouie...quick-draw.jpg I know you're not entering it, but the pic qualifies - it shows what the idea was, and you could explain exactly what you were hoping to get. Did you get what you wanted, but it's just blurry? That's OK - Did you hope for the firework and the PV to be lined up in a certain way?

It's up to the contestant if they want to re-enter. Each contestant is allowed one entry, so it'll be the last entry in case anyone wants to change a previously submitted pic.

A good idea is to look over your holiday pics, if you hang with vapers, you might find something there - Veterans Day would be another good holiday to search pics - good luck

Well, I really hate to do this...

We're not getting much interest or participation, thought we would.

So, I'm going to have to say that if we don't get at least 20 entries by midnight, July 23rd, I'm going to cancel the contest. If so, I'll try and come up with something that more people are interested in.

Really thought that with three prizes totaling $200, we would have seen lots of activity...

Keeping my fingers crossed... Invite your friends!

Thanks for posting that SK- I don't think I'm even allowed to mention my business outside of my two threads that I can have...
Got my hands "slapped" for posting a poll (an ECF thread said put all polls in the poll section, so I did) asking about batteries that everyone uses so I could plan what was needed.

I was hoping that folks had their thinking caps on, and we would see several entries near the end of the contest.

I was going to enter but couldn't come up with a good idea for vaping and patriotism. And I didn't have time to get it together. Just my two cents, but it's difficult to get lots of participation if it takes more effort than a post in a thread......

For a prize like these, it's worth the extra effort... and it WAS going until the end of the month, but he changed it to the 23rd now.

Either way, you still have plenty of time to get your entry in!!! :D

(btw, if I had an attitude like that, I wouldn't have won as many contests as I have thru the years... ;) lol)

Well, like I said, it's just a thought. Not that others have to feel the same. I'm just seeing a lot more participation in other contests and I'm just thinking this might be one reason for the low entries.

BTW - Rick makes some AWESOME wood holders at reasonable prices. He's easy to work with and great with communication. He's customize anyway you want. I just love the one he made me.

Exactly! I was thinking of this just the other day. We go camping on the Colorado River across from Parker, Arizona, and there is this gas station that flies a huge flag - I thought about holding my PV just right... Kinda like a pic of someone near sunset appearing to be holding the sun in their hands.

You could even pin a flag to the wall (or a pic of something patriotic...hmmm), hold your PV (juice, 510, etc) at arms length, and snap the pic. Even if it doesn't look as nice (Photoshop or similar) as this - we're judging the idea - cleverness - uniqueness - comedic value - pick your adjective. If you have tons of gear, could it be arranged to resemble something patriotic? Hmmm again...

Look through holiday pics, you might find a gem. Ever vacation somewhere nationally historic? How about National Parks? I would say that Yellowstone or Yosemite speak National Pride. Military in any pics? Have any red, white & blue vape gear? There's colored duct tape now... Get them neurons firing!

Good job, by the way. Thanks for the entry.
