Sorry I don't speak punctuation. ;)

I just couldn't tell what you meant -- "out?" what's out? And what do you mean, out? I did check FinF, but they don't yet have any Achilles 2's, just the old listing for Achilles, without a purchase link. I did check titanium-mods.com, found the 85 euros price, and with the current weakness of the euro, that's only about $92US... but it's still a lot more than I can or will spend on an atty; I haven't spent even that much on a mod!

But given my current problem with the threads on my favorite Achilles... if I had $92 disposable, I might do it. C'mon, powerball!!!!

It's more likely you'll get hit in the head with an astroid while being eaten by a shark in the desert than you'll win Powerball.

AH ok, I mean it appears to be made and in the supply chain, Alibaba and another similar site that escapes me ATM.

Hmmm... well then someone needs to enlighten frog in fog! I did a search on their site just for the word "Achilles" thinking maybe it would turn up, but it didn't.

I got my other Achilles cleaned up and re-coiled and the whistle-screw removed. Yeah, it's a little bit airier, but not a lot; I can live with it. I'm forcing myself to live with it, because my favorite is in need of a dry-burn/re-wick, which I am procrastinating, to make myself use the other one. :D

Link, Woofer? Some time ago I thumbed through 10 or 12 pages of Alibaba search results which found me nothing but V1s.

Sorry I never kept the link, maybe I am mistaken, it may have been on dhgate but I don't see it now.

Regardless, both Ali and dhgate show multiple listing for the v1 but I can't find them anywhere else. I'd be happier with V1 then Vnone. I have a v2 coming from Ti, ordered Dec 25 but not here yet.

Well, I did get Provape to make me two new 2.5 Ti minis out of tubes they had lying around, and I thought I had long odds even finding a used one, so you never know...but yeah, longest of long shots. I got tickets to, but my recent good fortune probably used up all the luck I had.

Well.... in the continuing tragedy of my favorite Achilles that will no longer screw into my favorite Coolfire4 mods, today I learned the brutal truth of the matter: the outer edges of the threads have simply worn down.

Here's a pic -- the favorite is on the left; the one on the right is the one I haven't used as much because it has a looser draw:

threadscomparison.jpg

The one on the left screwed into my CF4s just fine until I started using it with my new iPV Mini mod, so I can only surmise that the grooves in the iPV's 510 connector aren't deep enough, and have worn down those outermost edges of the threads. And yes I am BEYOND ....... The fave will still screw into the 510/ego adapter I've been using, and also into my kbox mini, but no others; it *might* still screw into the iPV Mini without the adapter, but I'm afraid to use it that way, and let the iPV Mini damage it any further.

If Yeahsmo doesn't get their thumb out of their .... pretty soon, I am going POSTAL!

I'm considering using something on the threads that my husband calls "pipe dope", to let it grab the threads on the mods it can no longer grasp; y'all think that would work? Seems to me that as long as the screw at the bottom is clear, it would still work fine, but I dunno. Opinions? Ideas?

Apparently titanium is not a good material for threads.

Can you use that stuff and put it on a 510 to 510 adapter permanently? I recall someone else doing that with success.

Hmm... dunno; I was going to put it on the Achilles' 510, so the interior threads on the CF4 mods could actually grab something; it's sorta like tape, which I would use a razor knife to cut down to a very slender strip, just wide enough to cover the Achilles' 510 threads. It still fits in one of my 510/ego adapters, and I have a thread cover cone, so it doesn't look TOO awful, just a bit goofy:

Also, tomorrow I'm putting the screw back in the other one, and tightening it completely, then slowly backing it out so it's as tight a draw as the favorite's. It might make noise, but maybe then it would give me a vape I like. Might put a new coil in it too.

Maybe it's time to get one of those Mini-Drip attys; stainless threads wouldn't get blunted!

I ain't ordering NUTHIN! from Fasttech, no way, no how, life's too short to wait that long for anything. But there's a similar thing at VaporBeast that I might order. The problem is, I dunno if my Achilles will screw into it -- I have 3 other 510/ego adapters that it won't screw into. I know it does screw into the adapter I'm currently using, so I'm counting my blessings for it.

In a little while I'm going to get to work on that other Achilles, see if I can make it vape in a way I'm happy with.

No opinions about using the "pipe dope" tape on the threads?

I know other places have it, it was just easiest to reference from Fasttech. I think' it's worth a shot considering how cheap they are. Even if it doesn't work on this particular Achilles it could save one of your other ones from having the same issue.

I've not used pipe dope but from a quick search it seems to be liquid version of plumbers/teflon tape. Not sure how this would effect the negative connection but i'd try the tape first since it's way less messy and easily removed.

Yeah, we don't have any of the liquid, just the tape. I still didn't get to that other Achilles today, a nap beckoned me instead. :D But I'll probably try to get that other Achilles vaping acceptably before trying the pipe dope tape on the favorite, because my husband said he wasn't sure how easy it would be to remove, if it didn't work; it might need a wire brush, which might smooth the threads even more.

If I order anything from a vape shop, I might see if they have one of those larger adapters, but I'm not going to waste shipping just on one of those, not knowing it if it will work. But I won't be ordering any hardware anytime soon, UNLESS frog in fog suddenly has the A2 clones available.

Well, I got the other Achilles vaping a bit better; I put the screw back in, tightened it all the way, then gave it a half-turn open; got a new coil and wick in it, discovered it was just a *bit* too tight, gave it another half-turn, and now it's vaping pretty well, and NOT whistling; it seems to only do the whistling if the screw is quite loose, almost sticking out. Odd how it needs the screw in, and quite tight, to be the same vape as the other one, which doesn't have the screw in it at all. Weird; AFAIK, they're both Yeahsmo clones.
