I'm waiting on my kit to arrive (Joye 306A) and wondering how the batteries will work out. The video I saw said 1.5-2 hours of battery life.

Despite reading many threads found via search, I'm still unclear on what _precisely_ that battery life refers to. Is that 1.5 hours of actually DRAWING on the device, or passive standby time?

I was a decently light smoker, maybe one cigarette every couple of hours. If I were to "take a smoke break" and just step outside, take ~15 puffs (2-3 second drag), then not use the e-cig for another couple hours, what kind of life could I expect?

I know it will vary by person and vaping style. I guess I'm really trying to clear up whether or not 1.5 hours means actually using the device, and how many batteries I may need for being away from a charge for around 6 hours. I plan on using my e-cig like an analog, ie. using it "one cigarette's worth" and then putting it down.

Battery life is a funny thing . . . as you've said, it depends on so many different factors.

But, yes, when folks talk about battery life in terms of hours, that's use time (not including time when the e-cig is resting).

You can see, though, that that's not a precise measurement. For someone who takes a few puffs then puts it down for 30 minutes, they may find the battery lasts for a good portion of the day. For someone else who is vaping almost non-stop, they may not even see 1.5 hours of battery life.

My best suggestion is that while you're getting used to your e-cig, you should carry around a spare battery (or, better yet, two spares), fully charged.

I do have a 306a and enjoy it's size, weight, direct onehit style draw and nice vapor for such a small unit. however, for an out-allday pv you will be begging some frustration. Do carrry at least one spare and your charger if you will have access to power. My experience is that the battery life for any but fill-in use will leave u in a lurch at some point certainly.
Enjoy the vaping on the 306a and if you intend to go fully to vape from smoke order a manual switch 510 with a pcc. Your 306a attomizer/s will work with the 510 batts and delivery great hits and with the exposed bridge great for dipping!
Good Luck & Happy Vapeing,
Mike
p.s. In fact order at least one 510 manual battery for between $13-17 and you can temporarily charge it in your wall or usb, untill you get the pcc which will solve most mobility issues.
Note: Your 306a batts will not charge in the 510 pcc
