I have a single coil build at the moment. I don't have enough kanthal to build two coils, but I have enough to build at least one of the coils. My question is, can I just add the new coil to the other one to make it a dual coil? I've only been using the single coil for about a day now and was planning on re-wicking it and maybe a quick clean.

I know most of you probably prefer to build all of it at once, but I'm in a pinch and won't be getting any kanthal for a couple days.

You Can add another Coil. If you do, I would make the 2nd Coil with the Same Diameter and Number of Wraps as the 1st One.

But if it was Me, I would just wait until you get some More wire. And make a Dual Coil build from scratch. That way if something goes south, you can just Yank Out the Coils and either go back to a Single Coil. Or do Another Dual Build using a Different Resistance/Geometry.

NOTE: When you add a 2nd Coil to a Build with the Same Resistance as the 1st Coil, you cut the Resistance in Half as sonic mentioned.

So if you have a .5 Ohm Coil right now, adding Another .5 Ohm Coil would make the Build a .25 Ohm Build. This might be what you Want? Or it might Not be something you Like?

I have chosen to wait because my single coil is hitting just fine. I am fully aware that the resistance will change, but thanks for the heads up as I know it can be dangerous if your not careful.
