I've been into vaping for about two months, maybe a bit more, it's all kinda hazy now days.
I'm a tinkerer at heart so RBAs just appeal to me on a deeper level than "Here, vape this, refill, vape again". I looked around and decided on the AGA-T2 specifically because of all the issues folks have reported with them. My little brain always says, start hard and work for it! A bit silly to say the least but I'm sure the AGA isn't the worst, and it's not the best, it just needs TLC and it becomes a fantastic vape!
I previously tried Silica, didn't like it. Then tried Bamboo yarn.. really didn't like that much, seemed to never transfer flavor and if it burnt at all it ALWAYS tasted burnt from then on. Then I tried rolled SS mesh with the mesh AGA provides.. It was decent! seemed to do the job but getting my girlfriend to tilt the unit just right every time was a bit too much of a learning curve for someone with a 20 year habit on analogs.
I then made the mistake of trying SS mesh (#400) and a central core of three pieces of braided bamboo yarn. Basically, in test firing the coil to get rid of hot spots the bamboo wick inside of it caught fire, burned all the way down to the small pool of e-liquid in the tank.. well basically there was a small fire, no injuries but it took a while to clean the tank up and get the remaining gunk out of the tank. I salvaged the SS mesh since my mesh STILL isn't here from Detroit (going on 12 days, USPS literally lost it twice on the way here!) and used it for a new wick! well part of it anyway. I received some 1/16th 7x19 SS cord today, cut me a bit off, wrapped the poor abused SS mesh around the top of it and added some Kanthal A 0.6x0.07 ribbon wire and BAM! this is perfect vaping! I can't imagine it getting any better! Still using a Ego-c Twist so don't laugh! Getting a VAMO this week I hope..depending on China post.
It's about 1.5Ω, I'm running it at around 3.6V and this is the results:

This is it wicking when first adding e-liquid, I didn't tilt it at all, it just sucked the fluid up!
And still building...
Still tilted away from the level of liquid, no priming, just instant vape heaven!
