So I ran out of unflavored nic 2 or 3 weeks ago, and have been limping by on the scraps I've got left while I wait for Wizard to get caught up so I can order more :)

The last batch I made with the last of my nic was a tasty amalgamation of grape, blueberry, raspberry, cherry, and wintergreen (all Lorann flavors) that sadly I didn't keep track of as there was a good amount of tweaking made to it after initial mixing - the wintergreen started off WAAAAAAY too strong... Well, yesterday I got down to the last ml of that concoction, so I went digging through my supplies to see if I had anything left with nic in it. I stumbled across a 20ml batch of a failed attempt at Key Lime/Coconut from over a year ago (it was totally unvapeable then, but after steeping for a year it could at least be vaped, but was still a really unpleasant flavor). Unfortunately I don't know what the exact ratio I had for flavoring was, though it was somewhere in the vicinity of 40% key lime and 60% coconut...

So... I decided to try to make it a little more tolerable. I dumped in the remains of the grapeberrygreen mix, and added a dram of lorann Watermelon, shook it up, and gave it a try... hmmm, that was a vast improvement, but still missing something... Off I went on a very unscientific method to determine if I had the missing ingredient. I took a vape off the mix, then immediately followed it up with a sniff from various flavorings I have in stock... I know, weird, but it works to get at least an idea if I was on track or not :)

After much experimenting, I settled on amaretto as the "missing link", and added a half ml to the mix. Now I know what you're thinking - ewww that's a nasty concoction! and on paper, it definitely is :) But in practice, it turned out amazing! Imagine a Sweet-Tart with the ever-so-slightest hint of char to it. Again, a weird thought, but it works really well... Now all I've gotta do is see if I can replicate it... so many components, so much uncertainty in the ratios... i might just drive myself mad... but at least it'll be fun :)

Not really much of a point to this post except to share a weird (and surprisingly successful) experiment in "repairing" an unusable juice... maybe it'll inspire someone to try some weird combinations of their own - you never know what you might discover :)

To think I used to toss those mistakes, but now with the pending decision by the FDA I think Ill start holding onto them for sure and

maybe get lucky like you, my thing was the plastic, I didnt want anything sitting in plastic for very long, but I did just get some 30ml

dropper bottles that Ive found to be a great way to fill Vivi Nova's...

Yeah amber glass bottles are totally the way to go - I only use plastic for tiny (<10ml) batches that I know I'll go through quickly.

And definitely don't toss the mistakes - chances are that you can at least salvage them to something vapeable (even if it's not great) with a little experimentation... and even if you wind up with something even worse, it's not really any further loss... and besides, some of the world's greatest inventions were mistakes - for example, super glue started out as an attempt at bullet proof glass for plane canopies... awesome things can come out of unexpected combinations :)

Rule #1 - Taste is subjective. Rule #4 - Steep. Steep some more.

Yeah I know, I totally failed on rules 2 & 3... I'm definitely going to be more diligent in my note-taking on all future batches! Hmmm... that reminds me, I forgot to take my notes on what Rule #1 is... ? LOL
