Hey guys I'm pretty new to vaping...and here's my question: I use a Riva eGo with a lr 510 atty. I always use the drip tip because of my initial disappointment with cartridges, they seemed to require constant topping off even when apparently full...just to keep wicking the atty if that makes sense. I drive a good 30 mins to work every morning and it's pretty dangerous to be dripping into your atty at 75mph! Should I try cartomizers? I have seen some posts about mods for cartridges but wasn't sure which one was the best/easiest. Thanks for your help...

I use a ce2 cartomizer with a car charger/usb passthrough in the car. About an hour each way. Refill when I get home, and I'm ready to go the next day. Absolutely require it in rush hour traffic. I would not recommend dripping while driving in traffic.

Tried my first carto's last weekend and while I prefer my atty's and carts for normal use I will be using cartomizers when I have to drive beyond my normal 15 minute ride back and forth to work. I'm sure I'll also find other times they are simply more conventient too. Much much safer and easier than trying to top off a cart or drip while driving !!!!!

Just learning here... I have a few SS with cartomizers and a brandie new TW Tornado (eGo). The tornado carts run our pretty fast.

Do I understand from this thread that cartomizers hold much more juice than cartridges with atomizers? (for a given comparable size of course...)

Thanks!
Daniel

No, not really. Most of the time regular carts and cartos will hold about 1ml. eGo Mega carts and cartos will hold around 1.8ml.

Well it is probably looked down upon here, but I do drip and drive. I have a drip tip and I hold it in my line of sight and drip a few drops. I take my eyes off the road to do one drop at a time. I only do it when I feel safe, and I probably take my eyes off the road more when chaging the radio station.

Again, I am sure people will give me a hard time, but I dont like carts and I don't like cartos

My advice is to continue to use the three-piece e-cigs -- with the cartridges and dripping juice -- but realize that a drip cartridge gives you about the equivalent of three to five cigarettes of use.

What you do is to keep the soft rubber caps that come with the cartridges and fill up as many extra cartridges as you need to get you through the day and carry with you those cartridges. The caps will keep them from leaking.

A pack of five "blank" cartridges is very inexpensive and they can be reused over and over again -- just refill them. Buy 10 or 15 blanks and keep them filled and ready for a quick change out as needed.

To be on the safe side, keep a bottle of juice in your car or at your job so you can refill cartridges if needed.

I use all three methods for different occasions. I drip sometimes at home...especially when I'm wanting to try several different flavors; I use (mostly) carts and attys all other times at home. I just like the hit and the vapor best of all that way. I use cartomizers in the car. I use the BOGE 510 soft tip cartridges when I'm driving back and forth to work (45 minutes each way.) I fill about 3-4 every night for the next day.

While you are deciding what to do try this, it worked for me.

I find that the 'fluff' in the cartridges gets packed down, and even though you pull the fluff back up with a tooth pick (or w/e) it is too packed to do the job. Take the stuff inside all the way out, rinse it under the sink, and pat dry it. Now gently refluff the filler material before reinserting.

I do that and my carts last 40 min, easily. And i only do that once a week.

Also, invest in some fluval. Eventually the material in the cartridge will not do the job anymore, and you will need to refill with new material.

Yes...I agree with Willriker. You can make your carts much more efficient. Not only can you take the filler out, fluff it, and put it back, but i suggest you cut about 1/3 of it entirely off. Then fill your cart about halfway, put the shortened (and fluffed) filler back on top, put a couple of drops of juice on the new filler, pop the cart on and vape away. You will get better draw, and will use up all of the juice. The stock filler is just too dense for my taste.
