Hi all, just found this place as I'm looking to make the move to e-cigs and wanted to try and make the most informed decision I can before purchasing.

The site has been a huge help so far and has shown me just how much I didn't know about e-smoking as well as preventing me from possibly making a poor first purchase.

Ok, so I'm in the UK, was a 10-20-a-dayer until about a year ago, and I've now managed to cut down a lot, probably averaging 3-5 a day. However, a lot of this is binge smoking at weekends or on nights out, rather than more regular every day smoking. Some days I do not even have one at all.

So I've been looking at all the different available models (mostly on theelectroniccigarette.co.uk, but open to suggestions of better retails if you have any) and think I have just about got my head round it. Super minis are the smallest e-cigs, almost the size of an analog, then it's the 401 (or 402, I forget) models, which are more like 11-12cm, right? Then up through the larger models with bigger batteries and carts, like the 901, 801 and pen style e-cigs...am I along the right lines? Is there a clear cut guide somewhere to the different models and where you can get them, plus pros and cons etc? I've had a look around here, but it's probably been hidden away amongst all the other awesome info I've found.

I watched the hour long vid from Spikey, which was very useful I found. Especially with the tips on cleaning, maintenance and the like, as well as making me happier about using liquids rather than having to shell out silly money on pre-filled carts, so that was all good.

Basically, I'm looking for any suggestions on where to start with my first e-cig, from a UK retailer who can also supply me with juice and any other bits and bobs I might need. At the moment, due to my relatively light usage or analogs and just my preference on aesthetics, I'm thinking about a super-mini or similar, something at the smaller end of the range size-wise. I have to say I really love the e-cigs in black with blue LEDs, so that would be a big plus too.

Any suggestions welcome, let me know if you need any more info to help me out, I'm hoping to make a purchase ASAP to be honest, get myself 100% off the analogs.

Hope to hear from some of you soon...

You'll probably find the super minis too much of a hassle with refilling all the time. The DSE901 is a good starter e-cig. That's what I started with. Black with a blue LED from The Electronic Cigarette Company (UK) Ltd..

If you fancy a different logo on the atomiser instead of that you could get one from Totally Wicked. That's run by the same folk. Black Mini DSE901 Electric Cigarette Starter Kit - £39.99 FREE UK P+P
You can also get really good quality liquid from there.

Electronic Cigarette | Free Yourself... | e-cigs Welcome is another great site for hardware and liquid.

Thanks BadSeed, I did wonder if the super minis would be too much of a hassle to refill and the like with them being smaller in all respects.

I'll have a look at all those links now, thanks for that.

Any other suggestions welcome though! I was thinking of getting some 11mg and 18mg juice with my starter kit (although I'll obviously use the pre-filled carts first to get into the swing of things before refilling), so I can see what works for me and maybe mix slightly if I need something in between. Does this sound reasonable to people?

Is the DSE901 the one labelled as "Black Mini E.Cig" on their website?

Yeah, that's the one.

You have to decide what's important to you. Is it cheap and cheerful? Don't mind getting into the guts of things? Plenty vapour? Throat hit? etc. etc. Thers's a lot to consider when coming to a decision.

If vapour is your thing, don't discount www.ivapour.co.uk for the Janty range. It is relatively expensive, but the Kissbox is excellent, if pricey, and the Dura C is also worth thinking about especially with the manual switch - a button on the battery that you press to activate the battery and control the amount of vapour. It could possibly save you money in the long term instead of embarking on the quest to find your ideal e-cig.

Having said that, I don't disagree that the DSE901 is a good place to start, and affordable too.

The Dura C is basically a Joye510 and is also available under the brand 'Titan 510' from http://www.totallywicked-eliquid.co.uk/index.asp

Good luck.

Looks good to me to be honest, for pretty much the same money as a super mini, but with none of the major drawbacks in terms of battery or cart capacity/lifetime etc.

Couple of follow-up questions though... Firstly, this is a really minor thing and you'll probably laugh, but can you get mouthpieces for the 901 that aren't flattened like all the ones I've seen so far? I guess it's to do with making the mouthpiece/cart easier to detatch from the atomiser, but just wondering if you can get ones that maintain the cylindrical nature of the e-cig all the way to the mouth end?

Secondly, do wicked do their liquids in quantities less than 30ml? Obviously I want to try a few at the start to see what I like, and there's no point trying flavours etc from elsewhere as they're not necessarily gonna be the same as the Wicked ones...

Not aware of any round mouthpieces for the 901 or smaller quantities from TW. It has been raised with them re providing smaller 'sampler packs' but I think I'm right in saying that they have difficulty in meeting their statutory obligations in packaging requirements to satisfy Trading Standards i.e child proof containers etc.

Actually, quite a few of us are using Dura/510/Titan cartridges with the 901 ecig. They fit, and better yet, hold more liquid so last even longer before refill is needed.

And, while it wasn't what I was looking for, it does provide what you are seeking - a cylindical mouthpiece instead of the whistle type. So add some empty Dura/510/Titan carts to your order, and try them out. :)

Nice one, Yvilla. My good lady uses a 901 and I think she may well prefer a Dura mouthpeice simply for the reasons you state. I'm going to try that one. :)

Brilliant, thanks guys, I'll definitely add some of those mouthpieces/carts to my order and give them a try.

As for <30ml juice bottles, should I be all that concerned about getting smaller quantities to try out? It's just that at £20 per 30ml, it seemed a bit pricey to find out maybe I don't like something.

I presume there are other juice manufacturers/distributors I could try for smaller bottles? What about non-flavoured juice and flavours as shown on the Wicked site, could I split a 30ml bottle of non-flavoured juice and flavour it several different ways as a kind of tester, or are those flavourings not equivalent to the actual 30ml flavoured bottles they sell?

Hmm, I'm having second thoughts on a 901 now, before I've even bought one! Damn my crazy paranoid shopping habits...

Anyway, I'm reading some more mixed views on 901s now that I delve a little deeper and wonder whether something else might be better for me. I've had a look at the Evolution from IntelliCig after watching one of Scott's reviews on it on YouTube. It seems a little more expensive than the 901, but it sounded like there was no downside in comparison, just a little extra cost.

What are people's thoughts on this? While I realise that if I take to vaping well I will probably end up with several e-cigs, I'd rather not buy something intially that I want to replace or add something alongside right away. Thoughts?

I've got a bunch of the round Janty Dura's and they fit very nicely on a 901 atty. They also hold a lot more juice.
