Hi, I'm new to the forum but i've been lurking for a week or two. I've got a couple questions about the Vamo v5 PCB, and was hoping you could make my first mod build a successful one. I would like to follow something similar to mamu's arlo build, but with a Vamo board.
1. What kind of fuse do I need on 2 18650's?
2. How do you wire the charger built into the power bank to the batteries? It's my understanding this board does not have the charge pins on it that the dna does.

There is one member on this forum in particular that I'd like to talk to, JohnnyDill, because I saw that he actually did exactly what I want to try himself. But help from anyone is GREATLY appreciated.

P.S. I would just pm him but I can't figure out how to on this forum!:p

1. Use the same fuse as listed for the Arlo build.
2. It's already wired in. As long as you follow the wiring diagram as far as the build goes, you're good to go.

Yes, Ive been reading the modding forum, and thats when I found out that I had to get 5 posts to get out of this subforum. I'm not the kind of person to go litter my posts around just to get up to 5. I was hoping to have discussion here. The box im going to use is the USB 18650 Power Bank mentioned in Mamu's Arlo build
it has a charger and pass-through built in. After reading through mamu's how to I now have answered my own question #2.
i'll admit I am ill-informed on how to choose my fuses. All I know is that a DNA 20 requires 2x3Amp fuses.
But just to clear something up, do I not have access to the PM system, or is there no pm system on this forum?

Hmm.. must have been a lot of DNA building of late.. ;)

These are the ones rated for 12 volts. Since you are using a VAMO pcb, and not the higher powered DNA boards, (and the Vamo has built in protection also..) these should work fine.

thanks for the help SupplyDaddy! The tactile switches used are no longer a stock item at mouser. what is your opinion on Mouser Part #:
611-KSJ0V431LFT? I'd like to try and cut down on shipping costs by trying to get as much as possible from a single source.

Should be fine for your projects

What kind of battery life could I expect from a single 18650? Being that this is my first build, I'm a little intimidated at trying to fit all the buttons and pcb and atty connector into a single 18650 slot.

Depends on your battery. Better battery, longer life. As long as you dont go crazy trying to shine the light on everything, nor charge your phone, a good battery will last at least the whole day.
The dual battery set up I made (5600mAh) lasts 3 days with heavy use.. to include the light as I work at night. I recharge as soon as it gets down to 3.7 volts. You can take it lower.

Ill bet that the 5250 contact for D size could be made to work with my single cell setup. What do you think?

Edit: Scratch that, Got the C size, they are backordered but are supposed to ship the 22nd.
I think I will order two 18650s. I found this button on ebay and ordered it. I can always test fir, and if it doenst seem like its going to work out, I'll have an extra 18650. Big deal right? lol

Thanks, More trouble though....

The 5240 C size positive contacts are also back ordered. Must be lots of people building DNAs lol!

You can use the existing contacts in the power supply if you're doing the vamo. The power use isn't as hard as with the dna chips.
