Aerotank popping on Evic

I just bought an evic last week and so far loving it. I've been using it in VW mode and have noticed that going above 6.8 causes the clearo to make popping noises. Unit says coil is 2.2 ohms. Right now I have hawks sauce from MBV in the tank.

Is this behavior just the nature of the tank?

The "popping noises" you hear - like dripping water on a hot skillet - are perfectly normal. With a 2.2Ω+/- coil I'd run around 8-9 watts.
