I really am having a hard time waiting for my shot at trying a tank via an AFS or a GG w/AVS so I'm starting this thread to keep my motivation up.

Can those of you who have the pleasure of owning either an AVS or AFS tell me if you can vape and drive without having to adjust anything?

An AFS or AVS success story sure would be nice while I wait for stock.

Same a buGG here...I drive for a living...put everything together fill it up to just below the threading tighten it alll down.. if the atty is new give it like 2 or 3 good solid drags with the CR completely open without firing it and then close the ring to my sweet spot and it will feed and be hassle free with almost zero leaking into the collector tank all night 10-12 hours or so :) AVS on my GGTS

yeah at first i didn't want to leave the house with the GGTS because it looked too pretty or i thought maybe it would be too bulky, then i did it but i restricted my usage to an 18500, or even an IMR16340 battery to cut the length down when i'm out, then i said what the heck and just grabbed any batteries i had because the beauty of the TS is that it can take them all. then i went ahead and put the AVS on it when out and about because it just makes everything easier and sooo much better! i've gone from case logic cases to special pouches, but now i just lock the button, close the collector tank completely, make sure the tip and cap are screwed on tight, and throw it in my pocket or bag. it's tough, it hasn't really leaked on me outside of my own error or forgetfulness, and it just does pretty much everything and does it well. so yeah...you can throw it in your purse, but you may want to wait a while until you get the hang of it, trust yourself with it and learn to trust it's behavior in different setups, and of course after you get over the whole it's too pretty to sit next to my keys or any other items in your purse, pockets, etc. of course, in my case, it's in in my hands more than any place else.

buGG, this is exactly what I wanted to read. Thanks! How long was your learning curve? I've got a trip in about two or three weeks so I'm really hoping the timing works out for me.

I'm so not a 510 fan...I'm also curious about which brand you use. If I can use an 801 I may start walking to Vapor Kings right now.

i'm a penstyle user, tried and true. my absolute favorite atty is a joye 302, second would be the be112, and then i'll bypass an 801 and venture into 510s and 306s. i used to use cartos, almost every cart mod on every atty imaginable, and of course direct dripping, but now only use those cartos and attys in the AVS/AFS. they're really nice in there and you may find new life and purpose to attys you had given up on in other applications. as far as brands, most of the attys are joye, but i love the LR BE901 and BE510, any cisco attys, heck pretty much anything in the tank. but you can also use the 801 or other penstyle atty with the 510 adapter in there. there's a couple good tips on this, and cappy did a great video too (the method i use), but rippspeed and others have noted how to do it without any real modifications involved.

as far as the learning curve, it's going to vary. the entire GG w/ AVS is just a unit that begs you to pick it up, take it apart, and use it in as many different configurations and scenarios as possible. if you do this, and spend some time on the wiki, the forum threads, or watching some of the many videos out there, it won't take long at all. a couple weeks and you'll be a master, if not sooner. the hardest part is catching an available unit on the VK site. :D

I asked but I really didn't expect I'd get a 'yes you can use an 801' in an AFS/AVS!

The written directions clicked, I think. I watched the video first and thought I'd have to partially disassemble the 801. I love 'em but pulling out the tool belt to vape...?

I'm going to have to wait until I actually get the device before I ask for clarification on Steps 1 and 2 but do I need to order a brass button or fuse spring from somewhere for:

step 2: place button spring (prefferably brass one or even fuse spring but button spring with work best) around 510 connector center post.
step 3: screw 801 into 510 connector

Or, will they be included with the device? Thanks, buGG!

yep you'll need a spare button spring for ripp's mod. you can either purchase the magnetic button upgrade when you get the GG, and then use the original spring inside the button for this mod, you could buy the fuse upgrade and use that spring, or you can just buy an additional spring. Vaporkings keeps various accesories like this in the GG Replacement Partssection of their site.

for step three, you'll realize that when the control ring of the AVS 510 adapter is easily removed, the adapter is threaded both internally to accept the 510 and externally for the 801 (similar to the 4-in-1 adapter that will come standard on the GGTS). you'll place the new spring on the center pin of the adapter and screw the 801 directly on the 510 adapter with ease.

eventually you'll accumulate several different parts which make these kinds of mods a lot easier to attempt, but it does require some additional purchases right out the gate. for ripp's mod though, you can get away with just a $1.45 spring, cappy's assumes that you have the 901 adapter already and the 510 purchase is an upgraded accessory. at any rate, the GG stuff is fun to play around with, and there's a lot of different ways to make the vaping experience better and more personalized. if you're going to try the 801 or anything else after you get your stuff, ask around, there's plenty of us to help!

What kind of 510 do you use? Standard at 6V? HV at 7.4V? LR at 3.7v? I have yet to get as good a drag as the 808 carto.......

I didn't know that about the 801, I have a couple on the way......hmmmm:?:

Thanks so much for taking the time , buGG! And, I get it (finally). At first I kept looking at that 510 adapter thinking no way that's gonna accept an 801! Then I re-read your second paragraph (for the third time, but who's counting?) and it clicked. That's a brilliant design, no? Wow! WOW! I simply can't wait to start playing around with this.

I'm thinking of getting an AFS rather than a GG and AVS...not sure yet. I already have manual PVs and was going to add one more to the collection - a native 801 connection. If the GG comes standard with a 4-in-1 adapter..I'll be using the time I wait for restocking to decide.

If you have the GGTS and AVS all you need is to buy the all mods cap and use the collector tank and AVS with the all mods cap as an AFSv3 on another device. :)

When it comes to traveling/going out/work...i just lock my CR down tight..make sure mouth piece and AVS top cap are snug and lock the button...however i do keep it in this really soft high thread count cotton bag with tighteners on the end of it so it doesn't get scratched on keys or change in my pocket...no leaks as long as you aren't to forgetful....im also an avid 100% of the time 510 guy.... 2 RCR 123a batteries with a 3.2 ohm 510 atty(real joyes)

B-Rad...looking like I'm going to start pounding on Vapor Kings' door for a GG! I was wondering what those caps were for since the GG has that brilliant 4-in-1 design for attys. Thanks! I'm keeping a list and so far this looks like what I need:

GGTS
GG AVS
(Fuse upgrade? for the spring?)
Adj Draw cap for 801
Opposing magnets
O-rings (spares)

I have Tenergy's for 6 volt. Will my 18650 fit into it?

Edit: that's a lotta hardware! I already have hardware...either I can sell it or convince my husband I'm sharing it with him

Recht, thanks. Where do you get those attys?

Thanks, Recht!!! Jeez, I was just wondering the best setup, buGG and Brad, what did I do??????

Sew, look for a GG in the classys, one shows up a week, too:) Yes, the 18650's fit, they are good with an LR atty, but I don't have the greatest luck with that setup in the AVS. I am not sold on the mag buttons fwiw.
