This may belong in the E-Juice section, but I guess the moderator will decide...

I love vaping sweet juices from a few different vendors who I won't name because I don't want to make it sound like I'm giving them a bad rap; these are inconveniently my favorite vendors and favorite juices. The problem is: some of my favorite juices, when I vape them frequently, leave an aftertaste in my mouth that lingers for days. I can taste it a lot when I touch my tongue to the roof of my mouth and it's pretty much always there otherwise just a tiny bit less pronounced. It's hard to explain the taste but it's sort of a metallicy, sweet, weird taste. No matter what I eat or how much I brush it is still there until it dissipates after 3 or more days depending on how much I've been vaping the flavors.

This must just be a common ingredient that vendors use in their juice, because I can think of three different vendor's juices off the top of my head that cause this. It's only with sweet juices, but not all sweet juices carry the trait.

Anyone have have this happen, know what it is, know how to remedy the situation (other than not vaping the specified juices)? What's the deal?:?:

P.S. just reread this, and I know...sounds like a bad riddle.

There's no way to sweeten a juice naturally, like with sugar, so for sweetness it would have to be artificial. I suppose a juice maker could use any of them, such as sucralose, saccharin, aspartame, stevia, etc. It's probably one of these you don't like and are particularly sensitive to. Hey, we're back to not vaping those juices that contain the bad guy...sorry about that. Different makers will use different sweeteners; of all I've tried, I prefer sucralose, as it doesn't have the severe metallic taste or chemical taste.

The only time I've experienced lingering aftertaste (only for a few hours) was with a juice that had way too much flavoring.

While I would probably stop buying that juice, I'd probably try mixing a portion of what is left with an equal amount of plain PG or VG in a small bottle, warm and shake it well, and try it in a clean atomizer. If they've over-flavored it, that would probably taste better, though it could just be one flavor in the mix that may be too strong.

@minimalsaint-- would you mind sharing any of those vendors you've found that use sucralose?

Mr. E Liquid is my go-to vendor, and they are based in Grand Rapids- I highly recommend the ice line and especially pure Michigan ice (made on request). Dan and Dave have always taken super good care of me and their 33% custom blend is by far the best pg/vg ratio I have tried. The prices are reasonable and it makes me happy to be able to support a Michigan based business that uses 100% American made products in their liquids! I am a MEL customer for life!

I've had a similar experience with higher nic, 100PG, sweet juice. If I vape it and don't flush it well out of my mouth, it reacts with my Listerine whitening mouthwash. I woke up one day with what felt like an all metal mouth. Took me a couple days to realize that something in that combination and the fillings or posts in my mouth react funny. I never isolated which parts specifically caused it, but it clearly was more than just the juice, something else was amplifying it.... mouthwash of all things. Just something more to consider...
