Hi bro ericska,

This air stone same with yours..? I bought it without packaging and this is the last one at the shop.. Did burning test on it and the stone not melt but got burning smell.. Is it normal..?

Of course everything get burn will get burning smell... :D:D:D(sorry) Smell like burning stone or burning plastic? If smell like burning stone, normal lah. I think that it is. Without packing probably they imported in mass package without individual packing which is cheaper, China made lah. To me it is an Aluminium oxide air stone, or Alundum. Did you compare its porousness with mine? It seem little rough... the rougher the brittle. So you have to grind it carefully.

Or just do as Vapir said. :D

Tonight I manage to make these two.. This stone is much more rough compared to bro ericska's which is more smooth.. I need to find smoother air stones.. Weird that it didn't break easily and I manage to make it quite thin for the second one.. Oh, btw finally the diamond disc I bought arrived this morning :) .. I use the disc hole and slowly twist the stone in it.. Came out as the first wick attempted.. Tomorrow I'll coil it and see how it vapes..

The diamond disc with holes :

First wick using the disc holes :

Second wick, accidently made it too thin  :

Bro where did you get those stones..? I'm got no idea where to find fish shop in KL.. I never pay attention to them before :p.. Went to 3 shop and only got 1 air stone which is the last one by the way  .. I've been to biggest fish shop in Shah Alam before (way before I start vaping) but I heard the shop is already closed..

I got it at a fish shop in Kuchai Lama. It was the last one and I don't think they want to bring it in any more. Which part of KL you at? There's a koi shop along old klang road on the way to midvalley..

what should i search for for buying an airstone.. any specific brands or names anyone with pictures of the packaging..

Try look for the white / light grey color air stones.. Better if you can find Daeyang or Top Fin brand.. Else look for the smoothest air stones not rough ones.. And avoid buying the blue / sand color air stones.. They melt when torched..

Bro ericska, can we use this..? I'll make one and see if it can wick better.. But I'm unsure about the material used to make it.. But I assume it still safe with aluminium oxide in it rite..?

 Whoahahaha!!! Actually I did tried something similar to this, the bench grinder wheel stone, but I given up. I believe Aluminium oxide is safe, our fishwick does contains it. But I don't know what more is added in grinding stone, something like Carbide materials...(got to wikipedia it). Otherwise, why the grinding stone is lot more rigid than air stone? And it'll eats up your diamond grinder even faster. IMHO.

Haha.. A block of this can make tons of wicks.. I got limited unit of diamond disc, so I'm gonna try cut just tiny bit of it

 Good luck grinding the grindstone!!

BTW..before you start, I suggest you wash it and try to suck on it first. If I'm not mistaken it will be too dense to suck any air through it..If air can't get through, what more liquids..

My new Ericska / Elyas hot wrap kit is now complete :) Bought a $9.90 grenade lighter with DIY locking pin, drilled 1cm x 1 cm wooden rod with 2mm drilled hole. I just wrap my wick with a little tissue paper and snugly insert into the hole :)

Update: a couple of days ago, I hot wrapped my Daeyang wick using Kanthal 0.1x0.4. Doesn't grip the wick well. Brushed withe a wire brush and hot wrapped again. Better grip. Installed into my AGA-T+. @#%^! Head snapped again while tightening top post! Grr...

Re-wrapped shortened wick and installed it successfully. Filled up some new bottle of honeydew.. Nice flavor for a while, although still a little bit muted. Though might need a little bit of breaking in. Then..bottom leg hotspot! dry hits! cough cough! hack hack! Fiddled around with the coil (very hard to move the hot wrapped coils!). Still muted flavor.. strange.. tried honeydew on my SS wick dripper. Muted too! Grr...Bad Batch!

Syringed it all out, refilled with a homebrew Orange Banana (1st time mixing!) that tasted good on my dripper. And then...my AGA-T+ tank cracked! The tank got a bit cloudy and then little cracks started appearing all around the tank! Then I found out banana is known to crack PC tanks...So much for my foray into ceramic wicks ..

Sigh...what an April Fools day prank on myself... Now got to wait till tomorrow to get my replacement Pyrex tank from Genesix ($15)

Eric..can you start a thread on DIY liquid making? I love how you did the thread on ceramic wicks, very educational! Looks like I need plenty of lessons now on homebrewing! I go through 6-8 mls a day and its getting way too expensive not to homebrew!

Hahaha~! Nice idea, snap a big nail to lock on the flame! Btw, Elias Hot Wrap, not Ericska or Elyas. ;)

I've 3 different set up side by side compared for week now. One with .5mm ribbon kanthal 4 wraps on solid fishwick, another one with 30g kanthal D 5 wraps on straw fishwick and the other with 30g kanthal D also 5 wraps on solid fishwick. All of them same juice(Dragon Breath Butternilla). Well, I found .5mm ribbon was like what you said, flavor little muted especially when chain vape... heat up slow, but hazy vapor. 30g on solid fishwick seem the same... also flavor goes mute too if chain vape, taste like burning stone. Wait while it cools down a bit, the flavor back again. Vapor hazy too. But straw fishwick looked like winner, heat up a bit faster than the other two. Maybe less "heat sink" cause of the hole in the middle of the wick. Another good news, it has more throat hit! Funny... that I can't explain liao... Flavor will goes mute too if chain vape, but took longer times to go mute! It does cool down faster too. Wicking ability doesn't see much different for all three. I think I have to get busy making more straw fishwick...:D

If you wanna learn more about DIY juice, I'm the wrong guy you're looking for... maybe I'm dull when come up with calculating... LOL! I mostly buy Hangsen VG base(100%VG maybe) 12mg juice, then diluted it with unflavored PG... Example, I bought a 50ml 12mg Hangsen VG base(Rm40/bottle), then added it with 75ml of unflavored PG(Rm15/bottle). So, it become 125ml 4.8mg 60%PG/40%VG, enough for my 2 weeks vape. And flavor is still strong cause VG base has more flavor added. That's also saved lot of money too. :D
If you wanna learn DIY juice, try go to http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/malaysia-forum/375100-how-diy-yr-own-e-liquids.html. Try ask Mr. Mafig, he is our best DIY Shifu. And btw, go download free e-Juice Me Up at ejuice.breaktru.com, very helpful and easy to use software ever!
